IIT KGP is one of the best college.

Admissions in IITs take place through jossa counseling which has a total of 6 rounds and 2 mock rounds. In which we have to fill colleges according to our preference. Accordingly, I had applied for many colleges like IITB, IITD, IITK, IITM, IIT KGP, IITR, IIT BHU, IITG etc. in various disciplines like CSE, ECE, EE , MMC etc . But According to my AIR the college I was alloted ECE in IITR in the first round and in the second round I was alloted E&ECE branch at IIT KGP. With regards to admission criteria, there's no age bar but you should have completed your class 12th with min aggregate of 75 % marks and qualified for counseling. There are no criteria of specific marks, once you qualify you to have to sit for counseling and will be allotted college & discipline according to your rant. I was from the GEN-EWS category in which I had AIR 191 .

I had a keen interest in electronic devices & physics therefore according to my AIR this was one of the best-suited disciplines for me, Here the Faculty-student ratio is one of the best among all IITs, being currently at 1:19. Though no. of students are very huge here (~12'000) even then we can maintain a very good faculty-student ratio due to a large number of faculties. Here facilities are well qualified most of them being master or Ph.D. holders from renowned universities. Though qualification is very well most of the faculties don't teach in a way in which most of the class will understand. therefore many come from class without learning much, most of the thing students have to learn from themselves. Exams are one of the main priorities here & these are conducted term vise. Difficulty after relates to your discipline and your own caliber but yes exams are of a good standard and not easy to pass if you don't have clear subject understanding.

There's a wide variety of on-campus internship opportunities for all the students. These companies offer different roles for students. As Most of the students are inclined toward coding & stuff related to it most of the students are placed in tech companies offering internships related to software Engineers and DATA Analysts etc. Some students also get an internship in the Core sector. Companies offering internship opportunities were, Microsoft, Adobe, Samsung, TECOS, EBAY PAYPAL, ABZOOBA India Pvt limited, Whirlpool, Wipro, and many more offering stipend of 50K to 3Lakh per month.

Students become eligible for campus placement from their last semester [8th semester]. On-Campus Placement is very Good at IIT KGP. Especially for my branch, it remains close to 100% being 100% consecutively the second time in a row. The average package in my branch was around 19 lakh per annum & the highest package offered was 1.51 Crores. Many companies & MNCs from in and around the world come to IIT KGP for Campus Placement. Name of some companies is Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Accenture, Sony, Rakuten , TSMC, and many more .

fees in all IITs are similar according to government guidelines but some difference arises due to the infrastructure facilities. for example IITKGP has the largest campus among all IITs therefore has higher fees than many IITs . Of the total fees 200000/- is tution fee for one year and 24K is mess charges , rest is around 68K which includes the cost of Hostel , examination , etc . Some scholarships are provided by our college among which number one in "MCM SCHOLARSHIP" [ Merit cum means scholarship ] which is easily aquirable , you just have to sequre a CGPA of greater than 7.0, There are some sociteis which avail scholarship sponserd by college one of which is " MAHABIR PRASAD SINGH FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION AND RESEARCH " . On campus placement is very good at IITKGP specially for my branch it is 100% for 2 years in a row .

"SPRING FEST" is the annual fest at IIT KGP. It is conducted in February or March. The Central Library of IIT KGP is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CDROMs, DVD-ROM, online databases, micro documents books & journals. Classes are well equipped with all the facilities enabling healthy interaction between students & faculty. There are many social groups and clubs which run various events around the year, these are GYWS [Gopali Youth Welfare Society ], DebSoc [Debating Society], Encore [English Technology dramatics Society], Pravah, Prasatham, and many more.

In the Hostel rooms, we are provided with a very good Internet connection [200mbps data speed], 24-hour Electricity, and water, Geysers are also provided for warm water during summer. Rest of the facilities for daily care, you have to buy on your own. Meal Quality is in no way good, taste is also not good. Many students don't eat mess food even when they have to pay for that. You have to through a registration process through which your hall will be made available to you. We have to share a room for 3 students in most of the halls, though there are many rooms with single occupancy.
