Remarks
I had not done well in JEE Mains and was not getting a good university with my rank. Thankfully I was able to do well in TNEA and get into Kongu Engineering College as it does not require the JEE score. The BE and BTech admissions here are entirely based on the cutoff scores of TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) test. KEC figures in the top 1oo universities in India too! To apply, I went to the to the admissions portal in their portal and downloaded the application form, filled it in, attached the documents and submitted it to their office. I think the admission fee was Rs 500.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course infrastructure is very nice. I really like our laboratories. There are also well-qualified lab assistants to help us with our experiments and other work. In our department, faculty members are really supportive. We have a friendly atmosphere and good course materials. Our curriculum involves both laboratories, exams and concept papers. It helps in gaining practical knowledge.
Placement Experience
Our placement cell is very active, they manage to bring many new companies this year. With a little effort and a good CV it is really easy to get a good job. This year more than 60% of our seniors got job offers in good companies. Average salary offered was around Rs 1.5 lakhs per annum and the highest was around Rs 5 LPA which is impressive. We also get offered internships during summer breaks which gives us a good experience.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The semester fees for my department is about 25 thousand rupees. This is really good compared to other colleges which charge exorbitant fees. I do not avail any, but I think all government quota students are open to scholarship opportunities which provide partial waivers for fees.
Campus Life
I really like our campus, we have Wi-Fi throughout the campus including hostel. We have a common main library and also individual departmental libraries are also located. It has well-equipped lab facilities available in every department too. The one thing that I would improve is the hostel food. But the sporting facilities are good, it is also given almost an equal importance as education.
