Remarks
Before joining Shyam Lal College, I was in Swami Shraddhanand College of the University of Delhi. I changed my college because SSC, DU was too far away from where I was living. I got 85%in the 12th board exams and the cut off of SLC, DU was 86%. Since I am a girl, I availed of the 1% girls quota provided by the college for encouraging more women admissions. The admission process was quite easy. We had to provide our official documents namely: Adhaar Card, 10th & 12th class mark sheets and passing certificate, TC, Migration certificate, etc. After the approval of those documents, our name was uploaded on the college portal and after that, we had to submit the college fees. We were told very clearly about the breakdown of the fees and to make the process more comfortable, online payment via google pay, Paytm, band debit\credit card was allowed.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose to persue B.Com (P) because I always had a knack for business and management. It is something that excites me a lot. I surely knew that b.com is my buddy because of all the exposure towards the commerce side it provides. The professors were highly qualified. Almost all of them had a PhD and knew what they were teaching. We had regular internals which was even flexible for the students who were engaged in extracurricular activities. It wasn't that difficult to pass the exams. If you have studied, you will surely receive good marks.
Internships Opportunities
The various companies that came to the college were Sapio Analytics, Prometheus, Blitzjobs etc. Most of the internships didn't pay anything because obviously, it is all about exposure initially. Openings in the HR, sales and content writing domain were provided and the interview was conducted for the same.
Placement Experience
Only the 3rd year students are provided with the campus placement options. Internship opportunities were provided to all year students though. Some companies that visited our college were Sapio Analytics, Prometheus Consulting, Blitzjobs, Zyba Salons etc. The average salary package can be said to be around 2.2 LPA. My plan was to persue a job for one or two years and then move on to persue my masters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees stayed between 13000-17000. considering you spend a bare minimum of 50 Rs in travelling to college and spending 40 Rs in the college canteen every day, the cost to study in this college is literally very less and cheap. During the covid times, if anybody was not able to pay for the stable internet connection, our college stood up to reimburse the amount to the students so that the studies won't be affected in any case.
Campus Life
The campus is filled with opportunities in the extracurricular sector. From dancing, street play, music, chemistry, commerce, sports, etc, there were ample amount of clubs and competitions that were held in the college every now and then. The library is filled with good books and a student can issue a book whenever they want.
