I got admission to Hansraj college, the University of Delhi pursuing a BSc(Hons) in mathematics. Delhi University consists of more than 60 colleges which divided into north campus, south campus and off campus as well. Hansraj college lies on the north campus of Delhi University. Every year university takes admission through merit based and entrance based. Some courses like BBA, BCA etc university conducts entrance exam and courses like BSc, BCom, ba etc university releases its merit list of every college. Merit list based on your class 12 result, so you have to score good enough to get the best college of Delhi University. There are no restrictions for age to take admission in any college of Delhi University. There is no such counselling for merit-based admission. College provides some quota for teaching staff and reserves some seats for the female candidates.
Course Curriculum Overview
My main reason to choose this course is my great interest in mathematics. I want to do research and PhD in mathematics, so I decided to do my undergraduate in mathematics Hons. Luckily I got the best faculty members in my department. All faculty members are well educated and well qualified. They are friendly in nature and always ready to help you. Faculty: student ratio of my class is 1:34. This whole course (BSc (h) mathematics) is about 3 years and each year is divided into 2 semesters. The whole course is divided into 6 semesters and you have to pass every semester to qualify for this course. Semester exams are moderate to pass, you can easily qualify in semester exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
Every college of Delhi University has moderate fees structure. It depends upon your course and college. Generally, north campus colleges have a higher fees structure than south campus and off campus colleges. The fees structure of Hansraj college varies from 14000 INR to 28000 INR per annum, it was different for different courses. If you did not afford the college fees, no need to worry about it. Every college of Delhi university provides scholarships to those students whose financial condition is not so well. Hansraj college provides scholarships to 100 students in form of fees relaxation varies from 50% to 100% in their fees based on their annual family income. Other than college scholarships, the central government also provides scholarships like the national scholarship portal (nsp) and inspire scholarship. In nsp students get 10k per annum and in inspire, scholarship students get 60k per annum. For eligibility criteria of scholarship, you may visit the official site of nsp and inspire.
Campus Life
Every college of Delhi university organises an annual fest for every student and a fresher party for first year students. This fest organises in February and March and lasts for a month. Every college comes up with its great alumni and celebrities in its annual fest. College life is the best part of every student lives and you also write your college life in golden words. You definitely going to enjoy college life and learn so many things. This is the right time to explore and learn new things. The college has a library facility and have lots of books and journals and furnished with ac. College provides a sports facility and has a sports campus. College provides more than 10 sports like archery, bat ball, basketball etc. College has more than 20 societies like drama society, poetry society, society for civil aspirants and much more which helps in your overall development and helps to find your hidden talent.
