CUSAT mixed Experience.

Entrance Exam: CUSAT-CAT (All India) Rank: 1669 chose this college because: Couldn't get into any IIT or NIT. This was the only best Govt. college I was going to get into since I didnt want to drop an year to prepare for the entrance exams(I am a fresher). Opted for CSE but my rank fetched me EEE.

Placement has been good for CS IT EC EEE lot of software companies of course some core companies do come for Electronics people. Mech and Civil dont have many core companies coming there way. Still Godrej, L&T, Mahendra, Wonderla are a few names. Software companies that freequently visit are TCS Wipro IBM SAP Oracle, Shiptech placements are seperate. They have high packages. Safety & Fire Engineering also has high packages. All companies have there eligibility criteria. Single backlog may be allowed in some software companies but core companies usually dont accept any backlogs.

Tech Fests, College Arts, University Arts, College Sports, University Sports you can enjoy it all if you are in SOE since all events take place in the CUSAT campus.(same as your campus) you can participate actively and be a part of the management too. all is done by student committees. Onam celebrations are great in the campus.

Fee structure is a little more than NITs. Not as much as VIT KIIT SRM or any such famous private colleges NRI fees is more. My total fees.(2013 batch) is around 37000 per semester, NRI fees is around 75000 per semester. However fee hikes happen every year presently the fees is around 45-50000 per semester for the paid seat(non-kerelaite)students. Kerela students have free seats. they dont pay tution fees. only pay for special amenities based on caste and other categories, their fee ranges from 2000 to 20000.

Kerelite students have free seats and i dont have any loan facilities provided by the college railway tickets are 50% off for our college students.

Hostel doesn't have enough room for boys. many boys stay in pvt hostels and other arrangements same inapplicable for girls. Hostel provides both north indian and south indian food. Hostel food quality varies since student committee handles the food and hires cooks there and student committees change either by demand or when seniors leave college other private mess also function in the campus with home delivery.

Apply for CUSAT CAT. Keep track of the forms from JAN-FEB. (Note: NRI quota forms are seperate. Expensive than normal forms but if you fill these forms Cut off will be very less for you but college fees will be higher) Give the exam. Once the ranks are out, you can apply for councelling with branch preferences. There are two campuses. 1st campus is better so fill your choices accordingly. (Option EE1P means EEE in 1st campus. EE2P means same for second campus.) Come to the college for counselling. Book your seat. Options do upgrade when people above you on rank basis cancel their seats. Spot Councelling is also there, Ship tech. and Safety and Fire Engineering branches are very much in demand since they have good placements.

Senior Faulty present in all branches. All senior faculty members with good qualifications and good academic backgrounds. Contract professors are also there.Some of them are really good. Some not so much. Faculty members are helpful. Teaching is good. Some teachers also give personal time to the intrested students. Faculty does help the students in times of any kind of crisis, specially the students who are not localites. Almost all faculty members are south indians since college comes under state government.
