Remarks

Canteen could have been improved more attendance of 75 % was decent good quality of laboratory equipment's & computers in practical labs Sufficient focus on extra curricular activities as well good Library with less penalty for later return of books mostly young faculty in IT with few seniors.

Entrance Preview

I chose the graduate in Information technology since I had keen interest & inclination towards software development. This college has got good grading as 'A' by NAAC & all Mumbai ranking was also good. College had been famous for promoting extra curricular activities with key focus on academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was set by the University of Mumbai although the course had covered substantial key subject topics used in industry, college department took extra efforts to arrange guest lectures & cover existing industry practices & seminars.

Internships Opportunities

During the summer vacations, the internship had to be searched by the students during the final year, the college provided internship for completing the course project work comprising of 200 marks. Small startup Companies as well as few known ones like Asus \ Aptech were called up to select students for internships.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college had teamed up with SIES College of Science & commerce & together arranged for campus placements there were campus placements for courses - Bsc-IT, BSc-ComputerScience, Bsc-Physics, BCom-Acconting & Finance. I don't have the complete list now but few companies that I remember are, TechMahindra - around 3.35 lac, Patni Computer Systems - 3 lac, TCS - 3.25 lac, Wipro - 2.8 lac, Accenture - data not available i had got campus placement in Patni Computer systems.

College Events

4

There was various events celebrated in college all through the year every month - except October, March, April, May about 1 major event in college related to academic subjects, industry seminar, inter college sports, inter college games festival, creativity - arts like drawing, essay, handwriting etc also computer programming event based on requirement & evaluation by company sponsored.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was about 35,000 per semester & it gave deposit refund of 3500 at end of semester (if the computer in lab & electronic equipment \ library books were not damaged or lost by student) fees was not decent, not expensive. Additional Scholarship for girl students are provided by State government.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I did not opt for hostel faculties & not aware of hostel there was a small & only canteen in our college. Food item list was limited. Perhabs, the quality of the food was good so the waiting time & crowd at canteen was worth the wait. Food prices were not expensive. During 2008 about 6 rupees for Tea, 20 rupees for Fried rice.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network was set up & they met once every year several cultural events, placements, seminars were planned. This helped the juniors to understand the expectations in industry after the course & juniors also got guidance in their subjects.

Exam Structure

There was a balance between the labs & the theory at class labs sessions were usually longer than 1 hour computers were of latest windows XP with 512 MB RAM during 2007 there were few electronic subjects so the appropriate equipment was also available to test the study scenario within the practical classes there was one computer during the practical session for each student all through the course.

Admission

As soon as the news published about forms being provided for courses, the college put out the notice on form collection timings, the cost of application was descent (about Rs.50), form submission & admission list, procedure. The college has minority quota for south Indians & also cultural \ sports quota other than the usual quota admission was on merit they consider overall percentage & marks scored in Mathematics must be above 75% there is adequate scholarship program arranged at college to encourage students.

Faculty

4

There were combination of in house faculty & guest faculty for teaching the course subjects faculty for the field of electronics , computer programming C \ C# & Java , SQL were excellent. They covered the topics well & also evaluated students with their assignments. Since lectures were of about 50 minutes & faculty found the students bunking less than 75 % regular attendance, Some gave additional assignments to those to ensure they also don't lag behind on fortnightly class tests.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
