Entrance Preview
I went through the Common Entrance Test (CET) and got 176/200. I chose this college because it is the best for engineering after IIT Bombay, in Mumbai.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is vast. It contains diverse topics such as structure, magnetism, relativity, advanced mathematics, applications of chemistry and so on. A few topics seem boring, but most are rather fun. The teachers take great strides to explain all stuff in detail.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies offer their internships, allowing us to expand our resumes and let us earn experience while earning money too. Stipends were usually above 5000/-.
Placement Experience
Due to its status as a brand college, VJTI sees a lot of good placements with good packages in almost every branch of engineering. The college has its own TPO. The job opportunities are quite high, as most students who sit for interviews are selected.
College Events
A lot of events such as Techno vanza, Pratibimb, SNC, Enthusia and so on occur here. Basically, techno vanza is about technology affecting our lives and the future, Pratibimb is all about cultural competitions, SNC is about collecting sponsors for start ups and Enthusia is for sport events and athletics.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure may be reasonably priced, but I don't know other colleges' fee structures so I'm not sure. The price for first year students is below 70000/-. I think it is kind of reasonable. Various category students can get their fees lowered to as low as below 10000/-.
Fees and Financial Aid
Other than government scholarships, even various companies offer us scholarships such as Schindler's scholarship and so on.
Campus Life
Campus life is rather interesting. We have lots of stuff to do and many clubs to join, such as SRA(Society of Robotics and Automation) , AERO Vjti, DLA(Debate & Literary Arts) and so on. As far as sports are concerned, there is always Enthusia. The gender ratio is tilted more towards guys, and the diversity is widely varied.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are pretty good. Plenty of open space, nice grounds for cricket, football, basketball, tennis and so on. There are independent buildings especially for these hostels. The mess food is pretty good, not outstanding, but pretty good.
Alumni/Alumna
Most of the events here are of the students, by the students and for the students. Seniors usually help us out to organise stuff and they themselves organise workshops for us. The alumni network is insanely huge, and many great personalities are part of it.
Exam Structure
The exam structure was kinda haphazard and very hectic. First off, our exams were delayed. This led to pile-up of portion and bunching together of exams, leading to a very hectic schedule. We had two unit tests and an end semester exam in under 2 months. So yeah, it was hectic.
Admission
We got admission in the college by means of online application via dte website. There were a few CAP rounds, and we put our priorities in them. I got final placement of VJTI in the 3rd round, and we were commenced to seal the deal. The administration was quite efficient in handling the process, but the printers were acting up a little. Well, all's well that ends well.
Faculty
Most of the faculty members are very helpful, and are ready to share a few words of wisdom always. A few, however, aren't so good. They are rather sincere in trying to teach us the various subjects, and constantly remind us of our assignments.
