Remarks
The admission process was based on JEE Mains Marks along with Class 12th Board Exams. 75% PCM was required to get an admission. Counseling process was very smooth. Everything was managed by seniors (2nd year and 3rd-year students) along with professors. You just have to bring the documents mentioned on the website www.thapar.edu.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose electrical engineering as my father is also an electrical engineer. Since most of the students chose the Computer Science branch, so the batch size of the core branch-like electrical is quite less. My batch has just 80 students. We were further divided into 4 subgroups. The faculty is quite good and learned. Exams are held twice a semester along with quizzes.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are provided during 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. Companies majorly visit for an internship during 4th year. Rest the whole thing is like placements. More companies for IT and very few for core branches.
Placement Experience
Placements are very good at Thapar. You just have to fight within your batch because the strength is a lot. Around 150+ companies come to hire. The average package is 8 Lakhs CTC. 99% of companies are for IT and Non-tech. Placements for core companies are not good at all. It's the case in all colleges and not just Thapar.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost to study is high - The whole 4-year degree will cost you around 20-21 Lakhs depending on your branch, and lifestyle like which hostel do you chose etc. Thapar provides a lot of scholarships - based on class 12th marks, based on JEE Mains marks, and then academic scholarship too!
Campus Life
College life is pretty cool at Thapar. The campus is well maintained and enjoyable. Fests and events are held every week and make college life fun. The library is the best among other colleges. There are 53 clubs at Thapar.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are pretty good. Hostel like M, K, L are like hotels. Food is also OK. Every hostel has a different fee based on what facilities do you chose. It can be Air Conditioned or NON-AC, single room, or sharing.
