Remarks
Presidency University is one of the oldest universities in the country. The university boasts of its various famous alumni like Subhas Chandra Bose, Amartya Sen, and the recent Nobel Prize Winner Abhijit Banerjee, etc. The university has a highly integrated course on the subject I wanted to pursue. The University consisted of highly educated experts in their academic sphere who are known for preparing their students according to the changing global workforce. These Educators in the University are known for strengthening the ability of the students to resist being misled and becoming better at critical thinking.The admission process is through an entrance exam and is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. The Application for the examination is to be done online and is available at www.wbjeeb.nic.in. The mode of the examination is through a Common Entrance Examination in offline mode (OMR-based examination).
Course Curriculum Overview
Political Science has always been a very intriguing and fascinating subject for me since my school days because of the subject's dynamic nature and its ever-changing topics. The course in the University lasts for 3 years and consists of 6 semesters in which each semester consists of an average of two or four papers. The syllabus for each semester is selected by the administration keeping in mind the relevance of the paper in a global context. The examination process of the University consists of a written exam and an Internal Assessment. Students need to have a compulsory attendance of 75%. During my time in the university, I was able to attend various seminars by distinguished experts in their felids which helped in my overall growth process and helped me build a perspective on different contexts. The faculty members helped me explore topics that I am currently researching on which are identity, gender, immigration, nationalism, religion, culture, and geopolitics.
Placement Experience
No placement is offered for my department in the University. Though some placements are offered to the students of the Economics department After the BA degree one can either pursue higher studies and apply for a MA degree or sit for a competitive examination.
Fee Structure And Facilities
An examination fee is required to be paid at the end of each semester before the semester examination begins. The fees for each semester are approximately Rs1200 which adds up to Rs7200 for 3 years.During the second year of the course, there is an exchange program with the French university Sciences Po where the student gets to go to a French university for a year as an exchange student.
Campus Life
The University has a Basketball and badminton court, a football and a cricket field. There are two fests that are held during the whole academic year. The campus consists of two libraries each for Science and Arts.
