Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is one of the 7 oldest and premier institutes of India.The campus of IIT GUWAHATI is also one of the most beautiful campuses in India. Situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra and with all the scenic beauty attracts many students. Apart from it's Beauty it has excellent teachers.
Course Curriculum Overview
As I completed my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, I was interested to continue my education in core Mechanical Engineering. Therefore, I decided to pursue my higher education in Machine Design from a premier institute like IIT GUWAHATI. The faculty members are highly qualified and are excellent at teaching. The examination pattern is semester wise with some mid-semestral examination also. If you are passionate about studies it is not at all difficult for one to pass the examination.
Placement Experience
The placements are quite good at IIT GUWAHATI. There is almost 80-100% placement for CS and Electronic students whereas placements of core Mechanical and Civil are quite less. This here the placement season was somewhat affected due to covid -19.For Mech companies like Mercedes, Mahindra and Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, L&T, etc visited. For MTech Mechanical the placement percentage this year is about 50%. As I am not placed yet, I am planning to seek job off campus.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees here you need to pay per semester. The approximate fees per semester for MTech students is 30,000-40,000 INR.If you are joining as MTech student you will get a monthly stipend of Rs 12,400 from MHRD.
Campus Life
As I mentioned earlier that IIT GUWAHATI has one of the most beautiful campuses in India, the campus here is very beautiful. The annual fests like Alcharinga, Spirit(Sports fest), Manthan are organised by the Student Academic Board of IIT GUWAHATI. IITG has a huge library of books, journals and magazines along with digital labs. The infrastructure is also good. There are many clubs in IITG, some to mention here are sports club,montage club, literary club, dance club, robotics club, finance club and many more.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I have opted for hostel facility of IITG. The hostels are quite specious with individual rooms to each student. The hostels are equipped with washing machines, tv room, music room, library, gym, canteen, etc. Mess food is also good
Admission
For BTech you need to give JEE and for MTech GATE is compulsory. I gave GATE in 2019 with ME paper and my score was 743/1000.
