Saurabh Meena's Review On IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITKGP], Kharagpur

I have took the JEE exam in 2012 and and got cleared it by good rank and i want to take civil engineering as i have keen interest in mechanics, so i took civil engineering in IIT Kharagpur.

In our first year the curriculum for all the branches are same because if someone want to change their branch to other in which they are interested and cannot get due to there low rank in JEE on the basis of CGPA of 1st year and to access to our course work many online portal are there to study like NPTEL.

The college provide internship to all our students there is a Training and placement centre which invites well known company from outside and recruit interested and eligible students for internships, the general stipend they got is 15-20 k per month.

Maximum all the student who sits for placement get 100% a job, but the over package are not get by all the students, some of the students who got placed in MNC got higher package and mostly got the average package of around 7-9 Lakhs per annum. Mostly are placed in consultancy or marketing filed some of them go to core filed.

Two mains festivals are holds by our college one is the cultural fest called SPRING FEST and one is the technology management fest called KHITIJ and every department are having there fest annually. Our cultural and tech fest are very huge and more than thousands of student from outsides our college visited our participate in the fest.

In our time the fees is less but now the fees is just double from our time and as it is a government institute its fees should be less. Now the tuition fees is around 75-80 k for each semester and hostel and mess charges are around 25 k which includes your hostel fees, mess fees, wifi charges and other charges.

They are many scholarship and loan facilities are offered by our college but i an not not aware of many but i know about MCM Scholarship for low parental income students , Inspire for MSC courses and many others scholarships are there, you can get the knowledge about that in academic section.

Campus life is awesome but the gender ratio is very bad in IIT's their are many cultural , social, sports and technologies societies for extra curricular works and competitions are held during inter hall. In inter hall every event is covered from technology to culture to sports. In which you will find the best. and their is Inter IIT competitions held in every December.

Yes, the alumni network in our college is great their is a separate society name. The Alumni cell which contact to every alumni regarding placements and other works. And every year there is a Alumni meet for some particular year.

There was a online portal in which we can fill our preferences of colleges and branches according to that branch of particular college is allotted, you have to fill your choice according to your rank and in which stream you want to proceed. You can see the previous year opening and closing rank of each college and of each branch according to that and your rank you can give your preferences for branch and college.

The faculty are well qualified and have a vast knowledge in there field of work. They don't create a healthy environment in class but they teach well. Though the ratio of student to faculty is low. But they will help you out in matter. There are many courses offered like elective and breath which you can choose if you are interested in other field.
