Entrance Preview
I took KEAM - Kerala Entrance Exam. It is one of the few technical institutions in South India, which admits students mostly on a merit basis through an All Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination. Admission to this institution requires good ranks in this examination.
Course Curriculum Overview
Mine was 2008 scheme which was outdated. Now 2013 scheme is also over and APJ university is currently in place. It is very good and helps to mold you into a good engineer with a lot of practical knowledge for sure. I think the current University promotes research as well.
Internships Opportunities
Yes , though it is only for a few branches. Internship is good for branches like Computer Science . Companies like Amazon do offer internships for them. A stipend of nearly 45 K for 1.5 months was given to them. Not much internship for civil students. I did one internship in a company named Build Next.
Placement Experience
Placement is good. A number of Software companies and Core companies do visit the college. Software giants like TCS, Infosys, Hexagon, Accenture visit college yearly. in total nearly 100 companies come yearly. Fee Structure And Facilities
It is a government college and hence the fees will be very low compared to other colleges. Infact per year my fees was around 7,200 Rs and then some exam fee of around 100 per paper or so was also there. This is very low as compared to some private colleges which ask for around 50 K per year or more. Hence do not even have the slightest worries in fee. Even if you are poor there will be scholarships.
Fees and Financial Aid
I had CBSE central Sector Scholarship and hence could not get any more scholarships. A large number of awards and scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in academics and sports.
Exam Structure
Usually the do give sufficient gap of 2 days before exams. Labs might be scheduled earlier than written paper. Semester exams are there nearly in every 6 months. Each semester had 2 series exams as well. All in all it wont be too hectic but be ready to get some tensions occasionaly.
Faculty
It is one of the best in terms of faculty. Very qualified teachers who took Mtech from IIT and top NIT are there too. They are quite helpful and experienced.The college was ranked 47 in Outlook Magazine's LIST of Top 100 Engineering Colleges in India 2016 which itself shows how good the faculty is.
