Remarks
I had a decent jee score from which I was getting NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, PEC, etc. But I wanted the CSE branch only, so NIT Hamirpur was the best choice ranging from NIRF ranking to campus to decent placements, so I opt for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty is good and knowledgeable. Though you have to study by yourself and you won't be spoonfed. Most students start studying a week before the mid-semester examination and a month before the end semester examination. Youtube lectures which are easily available, in addition to that teacher's notes and books which teachers have subscribed forms the major part of the preparation material. Good lab facilities are provided to give the practical outlook of the course you're studying.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are not that great compared to placement. Just 2 to 3 companies visit the campus for internship hiring. And also there's no separate club or society that handles internship drives or contact companies to hire interns from our campus. Most students opt for interns through off-campus drives or Internshala or any other openings.
Placement Experience
Placements are decent for Computer Science and Electronics. Certain good package offering companies comprise Codenation, Arcesium, Amazon, Siemens, Qualcomm, etc. Apart from these Paytm, Public Sapients, Infosys, Wipro, Samsung, etc. hire a good bunch of students. Electrical, Civil, Mechanical students are allowed to sit for companies such as Capgemini, Accenture, Wipro, etc. The placement rate of CSE and ECE is more than 100% but that's not the case with all the other branches. 1.2 crore forms the highest package being offered to the date. For an average CSE student, 7-8 LPA is the average package.
Fees and Financial Aid
Each semester's fee is 75000 for the general students, 30000 for EWS having family income less than 5 LPA, 9000 for SC/ST, and all those whose parents' annual salary is less than 1 LPA. This fee is for 1 semester. Apart from that, the hostel fee is 10000 per year and mess charges are 21000 per semester.
Campus Life
NIT Hamirpur has a really beautiful campus with eavesdropping scenic views. You'll get here the perfect peace anyone needs after a hectic day. You can have an insight of Dhauladhars covered with a white layer of snow from a distance during winters. Hostels are well maintained and spacious especially the newly constructed ones. Free wifi is available throughout the campus. There is a big ground, a decent library, sports and badminton courts in the hostel. There are a variety of clubs and societies ranging from technical to for fun which you can join acc. to your interests.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are well maintained. Mess offers good food which is full of variety and is hygienic as well. The food menu is decided by the students' hostel committee which is elected by the interviews to the hostel warden or voting by students themselves. Changes are welcome in the menu as per the needs of the hostellers. Cleanliness is maintained properly. Monkeys can be a maniac at certain times.
