Remarks
I've completed my graduation from IIT-R itself and it looked like the best place to me for my MBA too. The institute was 12th in NIRF's 2020 MBA program rankings and has approval from AICTE also. For MBA admissions to the management programs at IIT Roorkee the academic background, CAT test score and the personal interview performance is noted by the institute.
Course Curriculum Overview
The reason why I chose IT domain was the fact that I have finished my B.Tech in the same branch and I wanted to grow myself in the same field. A total of 25 members are there in DoMS IIT-R's faculty team and this team consists of some of the best names of the field. The course curriculum of the institute is at par with all top class B-schools of the country while the IIT group adds more to its name.
Internships Opportunities
Most of the students in MBA-IT specialisation opted for the round and I was also one among them. My internship was a 7-week one and it was a great experience for me to learn about various industrial sectors.
Placement Experience
IIT Roorkee is a reknown brand in itself and the placements at DOMS IITR for our 2020 batch purely lived up to my expectations. With nearly 35 recruiters 80+ packages were offered to the program INR 18.68 LPA was the highest bagged package with the most number of packages being made by Airpay, Infosys, Wipro and HCL. I was able to get a decent package of INR 11 LPA and really learnt a lot during my days in that company.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure for MBA at DOMS IIT Roorkee is almost similar to management programs in other IITs. The students at DOMS IIT Roorkee must pay a total fee of INR 8.33 Lacs for the 2 year management program and the availability of merit based scholarships and grants were a great help for students who cannot afford the fee expenses.
Campus Life
Being a part of the prestigious IIT Group, the institute works for all-round growth of its students and due to the same equal importance is given to the campus life. Our library has the best of educational content for Students academic growth while events like Regalia ,Cognizance, Sangharsh and Thomso are also organised by the institute. The famous societies at DOMS IIT Roorkee are the sports cell, Vittarth and MarkIIT.
Hostel Facilities
The institute took the best care of its students in the hostels also. There are a total of 13 hostels for students residence and they are further distributed as per the gender diversity. As MBA program has a hectic schedule the importance of hostel life increases and the facilities here made my hostel days one of the best thing about my MBA program. I truly enjoyed the food in the mess and still miss some dishes of the menu there.
Admission
After the IIM Group, Management department of IITs are the priority MBA institutes for many students and thus the cut-off of such institutions goes very high. Students having a valid score in CAT exam can apply for the admissions, and the institute shortlist them on their academic records and entrance score. The interview round is also there in the selection process and all of them play a major role in the final selections
