I took the Kerela Engineering Entrance and got a decent rank of 2000 which got me a merit seat in the Electronics and Communication course here .

The course structure is under Cochin University or CUSAT as it is commonly called. The course structure is the average engineering course - pretty big workload, and in my case, with a major focus on electronics and a subject for communication. Research opportunities are not very common.

The college hosts companies for internship opportunities in the sixth semester. There are several companies like QBurst which, if the performance of the intern is good provide Pre-Placement Offers. The general stipend ranges from 5000 to 15000 while some companies offer none.

Placements are one aspect which our college ranks the best in all of Kerela,not counting the National Institute of Technology Calicut. Almost everyone in the CS and EC departments get placed, with a usual minimum pay package of 3.5 lakhs. Ittiam systems, TCS, Amazon are some of the multitudes of companies that come to the college for placements.

The fee structure is feasible. The merit seat costs 35000 INR, a management seat 65000 INR, and an NRI seat will set you back 1,00,000 INR a year. When compared to most colleges this is a pretty reasonable fee structure. The cash is usually payed upfront before the semester starts.

There are few scholarships which are entitled to financially backward students with an average academic performance which reduces the fee to magger amounts.

Hostel life is pretty chill and extremely cheap. No facilities like air conditioning. There is a fan and a balcony in every room, and two beds and two study tables. Two large bathrooms in each floor. Students have the freedom to opt for their own wifi networks . Anything that needs to be done in the hostel is done by the students from serving food to cleaning etc.

The exam structure is pretty hectic as it is in any engineering course. Two series exams a semester, and a final university exam, including one or two lab exams. Juggling work and play becomes an art as you move through the years - innumerable assignments , random tests etc ensure you're never left with nothing to do.

The admission process was fairly straight forward - Provided you landed a seat with your rank, you had to go to the college on a day they specified and fill out the multitude of forms they provided. An informative introduction to the course was also conducted.

The faculty is pretty okay. There are very good professors and there are terrible ones with attitude problems. But scoring marks for exams will depend on how well you are able to cope with and understand the topic at hand. All the teachers do have a desire to complete the course and provide ample time for revision irrespective of the quality of teaching.
