Entrance Preview

I have qualified AIEEE entrance exam (2011) with 20463 rank in general category. Under this ranking, i was getting all the branches in NIT Srinagar and NIT Silchar. All core branches like civil, mechanical, electrical etc can be taken by any candidate who is having ranking near to 19000 20500. So finally i selected Civil Engineering branch in NIT Srinagar.

Internships Opportunities

Actually college doesn't played any role in getting college internship so we have to personally try in different companies for internship it is one of the worst part of training and placement department thats the reason we guys are not even getting general stipend in our college internship.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement & job opportunities are good above from the average mark. Mainly its depend on current scenario there is almost 100% placement to CS, IT, ECE branch and 60 80% of mechanical and electrical there are many PSu companies used to visit campus like BPCL, ONGC, HPCL, IOCL etc but it depends on the current placement scenario.

College Events

3

Sports week alumni meet, Tech fest, Freshers, Farewell, Some technical events from each departments, Guest lectures from IIT's Professor etc so many students used to participate in it its not so big its only for college students tech fest is a big event where students from various college use to come.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I think fee structure is very much under the budget its not so expensive at all anyone can easily manage it loan facilities and scholarships are also given to poor students if we try to compare it with other private colleges or other NITs, the fee structure of NIT Srinagar is really very feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

Both scholarship and loan facility are offered by NIT Srinagar scholarships are offered from central and state government in my college time, many batch mates are giving free laptops also so those are really poor and having correct documents are easily able to get scholarships.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio is like 90% boys and 10 8% is girls hostel parties are going to occur on so many occasions like birthday, placement parties etc workshops like robotics, auto cad, c programming etc are going to occur in between the semester mostly students, teachers, non teaching staffs are muslim and rest are outsider who are hindu but there is no tolerance on hindu student by muslim people so its chilled up political issues are there because of terrorism and sometimes Kashmir issues so if there is so much heat up environment then there will be holiday for college students so there is not so much problem.

Hostel Facilities

3

My hostel life was good but mess food was very bad. In 1st, 2nd, 3rd year we need to do room sharing with other students but in 4th year we are having single room facility with personal high speed internet cable to each room. So there is no problem in acc

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is somewhat bad actually its somewhat lost in few years back but from last 2 years, training and placement department is working hard to build alumni network stronger they try to arrange few invitations to alumni for alumni meet so its coming back and within 1 more year it will be fine.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Highest package is of 45 lpa and lowest of 8 lpa. There is 100% placements of students from core branches. After i get my degree i want to work in a tech company and learn about technology.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
