I sat for AIEEE in 2006 and got All India Rank around 16000. I was a student from Delhi. Always wanted to pursue Mechanical Engineering. With that rank i could not get into an NIT. Last option was NIT Srinagar which i did not opt for. Near to Delhi YMCA is known to be best and i chose it above any other college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was at par with any other college. One thing to notice was that there were only 2 colleges at that time offering B.Tech in Haryana. So the exams and course was slightly, very slightly different from colleges offering BE. The exam papers were set by a selected group of teachers who used to teach in either of the 2 colleges offering B.Tech.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, There were companies who visited our college for internship. A few branches are open for internship in 7th semester and others in 8th semester. For Mechanical it was 7th and i got placed in as an intern in FIAT for Rs. 10000 a month.
Placement Experience
Placements for Mechanical were always good. Companies like Lanco, Bluestar, ISGEC were a regular visitors. I got placed in FIAT and heard that the following years also saw Maruti and Suzuki as employers. Mostly almost all the students got placed specifically in Mechanical. Other than that HCL and Infosys hires in bunch.
College Events
There is a cultural fest every year. Then there is freshers. Cultural fest was a combination of technical events as well as other events like signing competitions, dance performances, dramas. Apart from these there were sports events too before the fest and winners get awarded in the fest.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It was not expensive at all. It was a government aided institute back then. Semester fees was around 25 k. Monthly mess fees was 1200. Hostel fees was a nominal 1800 if i remember clearly with some fines or minor extra cost. So in all i used to get 50k per semester to pay fees and as my pocket money.
Fees and Financial Aid
No i do not know any such scholarship or loan facility provided by the college nor did i took any.
Exam Structure
There were internal exams and then there were external exams. There are 2 internal exams in a semester which had labs and written test both. Then there were final exams. Internal exams accounted for 50 marks and the external for 100 marks. The 50 marks for internal also had attendance accounted for.
Admission
I filled a separate form for this college. Based on the AIEEE rank they called me for the counselling session. There is a quota for non Haryana students. i fell into that criteria. Based on my rank i got Mechanical Engineering that i wanted in the first counselling session itself.
