Remarks
I applied for the Colleges like SGP (Siliguri Govt Polytechnic) and BIT(Bengal Institute of technology) and Sgp was my first preference and at the time of my first counseling, I got the college Sgp So I'm here. I got addmission through the General quota. The minimum marks should be 35 percent for ST/SC and 45% for General candidates.
Course Curriculum Overview
I loved computer science since I was in class 8-9 but unfortunately for my low grades in class 10, I took commerce, and then I decided to drop off my school and gave the entrance exam (Jexpo) and I got selected. It is like 12 teachers for 50 students. All our teachers are Ph.D. holders or master's holders and our college is one of the finest colleges in West Bengal for the department of computer science. The exam is not too tough nor too easy you'll eventually pass if you study well.
Internships Opportunities
As I've mentioned on my previous Page that it's pretty tough to get jobs after completing a diploma just because companies prefer BTech students over Diploma holders so there will be minimum companies which will offer you internships 4-5 companies visit our college every year and it's like only 60% students getting the job.
Placement Experience
After you reach sem 5 you'll be eligible for campus placements. You'll see companies like L&T Wipro etc. The average package is not so high Just because it's a diploma college. It's like 60% of the total students getting placed. I'll be pursuing BTECH just after completing my diploma course.
Fees and Financial Aid
You need just around 3000 in a year just because it's a Government polytechnic. And Just because I'm still in 2nd year so I can say much about the placement. But the college is pretty much good. And you're not gonna search for placement just after completing the diploma you should do Btech after doing the diploma.
Campus Life
You'll see 2 annual fests 1 tech fest in a year and it'll be conducted during August, February, and May. The library is pretty well more than 50000 books are available and you'll also get a place to read. We got 2-3 sports competitions in a year where the college will take you to another college to play.
