GAURAV's Review On Cochin University Of Science And Technology, School Of Engineering -[SOE] Thrikkakara, Ernakulam

I gave entrance test for CUSAT UG courses which is well known as CUSAT CAT. The scores are not published by the University. The University only publishes the rank list according to which students have to apply for different branches. I got 3302 rank in that test. I choose this college since it was Government undertaking college and the placements from the college was really good.

Course curriculum is very good here since the syllabus is revisited and updated every 3 years. The course includes industry visits and real time projects after fourth semester which focuses on developing the professional skills of students. Every week two full day is dedicated to labs which enhances the industry working skills of students.

Every year start-up summit is organised where many start-up companies come to recruit learning students as interns. They offer an average stipend for recruits. Some of the companies which came last year were SULPHUR SOFT Pvt. Ltd., SHORETEL, FREECHARGE, INNOVATURE software labs.

Placements here are very good as most of the students get placed in their 7th semesters itself. Few days back TCS came here for recruitment and recruited 226 students out of 330 registered students maximum by any other companies this year. TCS offered a package of 3.36 lakhs per annum.

As i mentioned earlier it is a government undertaking college so the fee structure is very much feasible. Normally All India Merit list students pay 36000-38000 INR per semester, State Merit students pay 18000-20000 INR per semester and students under reservation category pay 1500-2000 INR per semester.

Loans are easily available for students in need.Loans are provided by all the nationalised banks across INDIA. College rewards branch toppers with scholarships of 40000 INR for first two semester and 25000 INR for rest six semesters.

Campus life is very good. Gender Ratio differs from branch to branch in mechanical department it is in 1:60 ratio whereas in IT, CS, ECE, EEE, CIVIL departments it is in 25:60. Safety and Fire Engineering department has only one girl until now. Campus is very much diverse in every aspect. It has a lush green campus with scientific parks. Workshops are very frequent here indulging students in various extracurricular activities.

In normal days Classes are scheduled from 9 am to 12 pm in forenoon and 1 pm to 4 pm in afternoon. Every week two days of lab are scheduled. Two mid semester exams are conducted in every semester. End semester exam schedules are a bit tight. Results are delayed every semester.

Faculties are well qualified, friendly and very much interested in teaching students. They teach us in such a manner that whole class interacts with each other making studies easier to understand. The professors are very much helpful. They help students in their projects in their doubts and everywhere. They are dedicated to teaching.
