BIT Mesra's secret

I applied for BIT Mesra, Ranchi which has a NIRF ranking of 35 I was a general category student without ews. I got civil engineering branch in last round of counselling my rank was about 49k and it was my 15th preference for getting admission in this college you have to clear jee mains exam with rank under 30k if you want ece or eee and 40k if u want non- circuital branches.

My course curriculum is a bit hectic as its core branch and civil specifically although online mode has no any pressure of exams and attendance. There's plenty of professors in my branch and this year we had 50 students so it's 1:50 and almost all of them have a good grip of their subjects and when it comes to practicals that's pretty good as BIT is a gift so it's managed by Birla group which make its lab and other facilities better than nits near its rank. We have 5 modules in every subject and after completion of each module there,s a quiz and there's an endsem in online mode and offline mode quiz happen almost per week but its weightage is pretty less and in offline, there's a mid sem and an end sem exam.

The internship opportunity is good and college also provides it. We have to do any one project in the final year it is necessary to do. In civil engineering, there's nhai which has signed MoU with bit till 2024 for giving 2 months internship to Civil Engineering students in their final year.

On the paper average package is about 9 lakh per annum but the thing is new hod of our department is not doing good and also few seniors have placed in consultancy job and if you want on campus job in the core of civil don't opt for bit, Mesra but things are changing as new students are getting more involved in the gate. Last year our seniors got rank 2 in the IES exam as there is not much pressure on academics in this department. But it,cse and ece have good placements in 2020 too 50 lakh was highest CTC and average package is 11 lakh. Biotech has low placements apart from that more than 75% of students are placed mostly in consultancy firms and its companies. There's not much opportunity in core companies as l&t also comes but 10 - 20 students get placed there. Also, there's a good environment for gate,iea and UPSC.

We have fees in the 1st year around 125000 per semester which increases to 134500 per semester in the 2nd year 171000 per semester in the 3rd year and 181500 per semester in the 4th year. As bit has a policy to hike fees anytime so can't say about the future. The scholarship includes a GP Birla scholarship which gives up to 50% off on tuition for meritious students whose annual income is less than 2 lakh and 20% to all the meritious students and if your earning member of the family has passed during course it will give off on tuition fees about 75% but you can take any one of these. Scholarship not all of them. And to take this scholarship you have to maintain a good academic per semester and also remember you haven't taken any other Scholarship during course.

The annual cultural fest is bitotsav which is India's one of the largest fest and entrepreneurship cell has an annual event which includes business plan pitching, pitch desk, different games and cash prizes are huge also different clubs have different fests of their own. There are around 28 clubs in our college and different workshops are organized so your weekend will be filled with some work and a lot of funs. The sports complex is really huge and there's the coach for that also. From Rotaract club to entrepreneurship development cell to aerospace society you can explore a lot in extracurricular activities in bit also seniors are amazing and helping too. If you want to explore college life do opt for BIT Mesra.

There's a pretty good hostel as I was in online batch so I haven't visited campus yet but as my senior says there are two girls hostels and 10 boys hostels and mess food is also there whose fees are not included in the hostel fees also there are good hotel and Dhaba in campus too. I don't have much idea about the registration of hostel but you have to apply in admission department as far as I know. The inside hostel is very greenish and also very beautiful there's a river flowing side by side of campus which makes the hostel environment so beautiful also there's a schedule to enter the hostel which needs to be followed.
