Course Curriculum Overview
To give a brief overview of the course structure and curriculum followed in the IIM Calcutta, I think we have 6-7 domains which include organizational behaviour, operation, information system, economics, finance, marketing and other common subjects. So, we have faculty members as per the groups. So let's say there would be 7-8 faculty members in finance, 3-4 faculty members in economics. So, that is how it goes. So, for first-year students, the course curriculum is the same for every individual, every MBA students. For the second year, you can pick your electives and you can choose whichever electives you want. So, this is how it happens for the students. As per the faculty members, we have a mix of both people who have the degree from abroad and people who have the degree from India as well.
Internships Opportunities
For summer as well as the similar array of companies turned up & again complete batch got placed, considering in covid time. It was a big achievement for our college.
Placement Experience
Though I'm not might be able to tell the exact value, I can tell the figure that is around the numbers. For final placement, the average was about 29 lakhs. Considering the time we are in covid time, it was s very good effort by the placement committee. Obviously, we have 100% placements for both finals & summers. In terms of which our company comes, I think top companies from every domain, consulting, S & M, FMCG, finance, BCG & everything. This type of company generally comes up on our campus. So, for marketing, HUL, PFG & all come to our campus. Te companies provide multiple opportunities. Consulting was one of the heaviest domains.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee amount is around 23 lakhs. We have a semester wise fee payment. We have six semesters in the course of two years. So, every semester I think we have to pay about 3.5 lakh or something around that number. We have a couple of scholarships going on. The first one essentially what I remember is for people who are not from the right social-economic background and they might help to pay this amount which comes under those people whose family can't support them. Second, we also have scholarships from different private institutions like Aditya Birla Group, OP Jindal Group comes to provides scholarships. The number of scholarships for them is around 3-4 individuals each. I think these also large number. Though people take the loan for this particular fee payment, which is easily available in a most private institution, private banks.
Campus Life
IIMC didn't compress anyone to come on campus. Though they provided the option to everyone to come on campus, most of us are stupid. So, we are about more than 80% of the batch on campus, though the classes are taking on online, considering the fact they are still some covid policies & place. Hence the classes are online and we have availed of most of its facilities. The facilities are we have to avail of essentially include the sports facilities that we have, the finance facilities that we have, the library facilities that we have. All these facilities are available in general on the campus are open to us. Though who is still had covid policy & place, hence they asked certain restrictions through it but most of it is open. As to how we interact with the other students, I think it takes to race on the most common thing that we need that we meet in mess, we meet in sports grounds, we meet in the library. There is republic day, the ceremony took place on our campus, we get to meet faculty members at least see them and get interact with a couple of students there. This is how we generally meet and interact on campus.
Hostel Facilities
The fact from the beginning, the hostel, we have a compulsory hostel for all who are at the campus. So, everyone has to avail it. For me, the hostel room is decent like I like the size, I like the hygiene in the hostel and its facilities including the washrooms. I believe it was a decent enough space to settle and live for two years.
Admission
We first give our common aptitude test which is called CAT commonly. Then we get a percentile out of it. Post which we have a certain shortlisting parameter. And if you get shortlisted for that CAT test, you get called for an interview. The CAT generally happened in the month of November. The shortlist for the interviews comes out in the month of January and the final interview is held in the month of February. Though I think it is a test based in a spare of one month, so people have their interviews from February to the month of March. For IIM Calcutta there was no GD conducted, is a WAT conducted. The topic of WAT I can remember it was around whether environmentalist is hosting about the damage done to the earth. We have 3 panelists in the interview. Two of them were faculty members and one of them was alumni. For me it was not a stressful interview, for me, it was a conversation more than an interview, about what I want to achieve in life, how I want to go about it, how IIM Calcutta help added. So, this was a broad atmosphere in my interview room. A couple of questions asked me in my interview. The first question was tell me about yourself. The 2nd one was why after graduation without any work experience I want to comes for MBA. The third question was post an MBA in which field you see yourself. The fourth question was they asked me about education policy in our country, do you think it needs some changes. The last question wad if you want to make a choice between couples of IIMs, IIM ABC which one you will pick
