Course Curriculum Overview

Course structure is like trimester. 1 trimester is huge and had both half and full credit courses. 1st year is common to all and in 2nd year we have to choose electives in which field we have to specialization like finance, marketing. Faculty is amazing, properly qualified and have practical experience too. They teach the courses very well.

Placement is 100%.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Trimester has an equal fee which have total 23 lakh. A lot of scholarships. Some merit based scholarships are like opjams and aditya birla. Top 10 for opjams on merit list based on rank of getting in IIM Calcutta and top 20 qualify for aditya birla scholarship. Hul scholarships are based on merit.

Hostel Facilities

4 hostel are there which are quite decent. Single rooms are there which have balcony. there are 2 wings which have different shared washroom. Hostel have all basic ammonites. Mess is different in every hostel and food quality in each hostel is good.

Admission

CAT exam, after that fill the form for shortlist. No GD, WAT is there as 1st round. Topic current employment in India after that interview is there which is quite comfortable. Process is smooth. 3 panelist is there 2 are professors and 1 is alumni nice interaction with them. It feels like communication . Questions are asked regarding current affairs, past academic, favorite subjects, game theory questions, microeconomics questions, budget questions, international awards, and about internship.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

The eligibility for this course is having a bachelor's degree with minimum of 55% of marks and then the cut off for CAT exam varies from student to student. They calculate the composite scores for every student considering different factors like academic background, work experience, gender diversity, past academics, etc. I would recommend that the institute should have a fair shortlisting criteria which should be disclosed to everyone because I saw people topping the CAT exam still not getting calls from institute because of their strict criteria especially for general engineer male....Read More

Enrolling at IIM Kolkata was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I enrolled in an MBA at IIM Kolkata due to my strong interest in the subject. My growing interest in business and management prompted me to apply for this programme, which I intended to complete entirely at IIM Kolkata.
