After my 12th board examination, I applied to Raja Narendra Lal khan women's college for the BSc program. I appeared for WBJEE and JEE Main examination as engineering entrance examination. Based on my WBJEE result, I chose the engineering domain. So, I did not attend my B.sc program further. My WBJEE Rank was 8291. I am a general student, so there is no quota availed for admission. Admission criteria: Firstly, students must have Physics, mathematics and chemistry in their 12th standard. For general candidates, at least 60% marks in board exam and for reserved students, at least 50% marks in board exam. There were two steps exam in wbjee, 1st half was for mathematics and 2nd half was for Physics and chemistry. Minimum age: 17 years. After the declaration of results, there were 3 rounds of the counselling process. There was a mock counselling session for a better idea to proceed. Firstly, we made a list of colleges and based on that I got St. Thomas (CSE) and then Techno main salt lake (ECE).

Electronics and Communication engineering is a vast field for higher studies and industries jobs. There is a lot of opportunities here. One can move with software fields as well as electronics core fields. One can seat for GATE, ESE also. So, I chose this course. IN ECE, there are approximately 40 faculties who are helpful and knowledgeable. And the strength of students is 120. The teaching method of faculties is very helpful which is more than expected. Apart from the syllabus, the college offers FSP classes in different fields like aptitude, object oriented programming etc. They also offer industrial training for 4th year students free of cost. The college arranges interview grooming classes free of cost. Semester exams are not so difficult. There are 4 internal theory exams and 2 internal practical exams in a semester. Passing marks in semester 40%. MAKAUT arranges all semester exams. The previous 10 years questions are enough for revising for the semester.

College doesn't provide internships to students on their own. But, some IT companies provide internship+ full time offers to students in placement. Such as Thought works(20000/- per month), Accolite Digital(20000/- per month), Persistent(10000/- per month), NRIFT(15000/- per month) etc. Projects are based on roles like software engineer, system engineer, consultant, etc. In a pandemic situation, placements are as good as before.

From 3rd year, students become eligible for campus placements. About 80-90% of the students from ECE got placed during their course. the highest salary package offered by Thought works(8.33 LPA), Persistent(7.5-9 LPA), TCS digital(7 LPA). The average salary package is 5-7 LPA. Lowest Salary package: 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies: TCS, COGNIZANT, CAPGEMINI, PERSISTENT, ACCOLITE, EY GDS, BYJUS, DELOITTE, VIRTUSA, WIPRO, NAGARRO, Goldman Sachs, Juspay, Thought works etc. Some companies offer internship+ full time to freshers. I recently got placed in Persistent, so I would like to go with IT industries after getting the degree.

The total amount of fees for the general candidate for 4 years: 420850/- and for TFW: 88850/-. For 1st semester, fees amount (general): 78350/- and(TFW):33350/-. Dress and prospectus:4000/- (one time). 2nd semester, fees amount(general): 62000/- and (TFW): 27000/-. For 3rd and 4th semester, (general): 45750/- per sem and (TFW): 4750/- per sem. For the 5th and 6th semester, (general):46750/- per sem and (TFW):4750/- per sem. For the 7th and 8th semester, (general): 47750/- per sem and (TFW): 4750/- per sem. MAKAUT registration(for 4 years):2650/-. MAKAUT exam fees(1200/- * 8 sem) :9600/-. There are many scholarships available for needy students like kanyashree etc. AICTE provides many scholarships also.

Annual Cultural fest: Anakronos. Tech fest: Edge (2nd largest tech festival in eastern India). Social fest: Samaritans. Literature fest: Eclectica. They all are arranged between March to May every year. Classrooms are large and airy in the old building of the campus. There are large balconies for gossiping at an off time. Libraries are air conditioned and small, but they have a good stock of books. Labs are well maintained and some are air conditioned too. There are two large playgrounds for sports. There are football, cricket clubs in college and they arrange tournaments also. The social club is Samaritans which is involved in organising blood donation camps, social awareness camps, plantations etc. They have their own websites also.
