Entrance Preview

AIEEE, had state rank 146 and All India Rank 35056. Well I am a native of Jammu & Kashmir and I like the environment and weather here. Also it has the oldest civil engineering courses in India with one of the best faculty. I always aspired to be a structural engineer and certainly I learned a lot from my experience in this college.

Internships Opportunities

In 3rd year took internship through college in Ansal Megapolis, largest township in India, it had baseball stadium and international facilities. Also worked in NKG infrastructure for construction of underpass and flyover. They were providing stipend of RS 10000/ month for 3 months. It was my first earning of life.

Placement Experience

2.5

Many PSU and private companies visited the Campus. Companies like Power grid, NHPC, NTPC, Rites, Afcon, simplex, L&T Rambol visited the colleges and gave decent packages in the Range of 5lakh to 14 lakh rupees. Overall the whole batch sat for placements and got placements. Also some students got placed in IT companies like Infosys, Wipro and HCL etc.

College Events

2.5

We had many Tech fests like Tech vaganza. I got 2nd rank and 1st rank in junkyard wars and mystery hunters. A lot of colleges participated but few declined owing to the distance and rough terrain over here. It was the first time, that such a tech festival was organised with such a huge quantum.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee was very much reasonable had to give rs 5000/ semester and had a minimal hostel charges of 8000 rs. It was one of the lowest of all Government colleges of the country. Besides there were many scholarships for the backward and poor classes.

Campus Life

1.5

Gender ratio was poor. In our civil engineering department there were only 2 girls. Overall in a batch of 500 only 20 girls were there. Owing to toughness and technicality of AIEEE exam girls don't get admission here.

Alumni/Alumna

We have an alumni meet at New Delhi. We get placements owing to a strong network of alumni. Who give there contacts and work in tandem with us. They provide us with future prospects and what all opportunities we can avail. Also they give information about companies were we can get placements.

Exam Structure

We had 2 minor exam and one major exam along with lab practical exams. We had a pointer system, with grades given A+ at 90+ marks. The schedule wasn't hectic and we got time for extracurricular and curricular activities. Overall it was a pleasure being there for the 4 years.

Admission

I gave exam in Srinagar only on a beautiful Sunday. The paper went well and besides I gave B arch exam also. The whole admission process was smooth and faced no hurdles. Got my seat allotted in civil engineering department and administration was cooperative. I got the form from NIT only, I filled it and then got it speed post/courier and got my admit card downloaded online.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty were mainly research professors having done PHD and M tech from top colleges. They were cooperative and always at disposal for any research work. In lab they personally inspected our practicals, also we went on tours to hydro power and other construction sites for examining the book knowledges with the field work. Many students went for masters in foreign universities on the recommendation of our college Proffers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
