My West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination rank was 4310 and during the counseling process, I had selected almost 20 top engineering colleges in West Bengal among which Haldia Institute was one of them. And, when the results of the 1st round counseling were declared I had got a chance in Computer Science Engineering from the Haldia Institute of technology, which was almost like a dream come true moment for me. The Institute has ranked among the top 10 best engineering colleges in West Bengal and holds a record of 100% placement every year from 2016. Students who have completed their 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, or relevant subjects from a recognized board are considered to be eligible to join B. Tech courses and the minimum eligibility requirement for admission in B.Tech Lateral Entry course is that candidates should have completed a Diploma in Engineering from a recognized Polytechnic College/ University.

To be very honest, I was very much interested to pursue my career in computer science because it provides a lot of future opportunities and has higher chances of getting a job in a good company and most of the students who are getting placements in our college are computer science students. The student to faculty ratio in our college is 1:27 Haldia Institute of Technology has faculties graduated from some of the best engineering colleges in India and International faculties from top colleges in countries like the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. They are very hardworking and highly dedicated towards teaching and are always concerned about how to make students physically and mentally better so that they can be always ready to face any situation in the corporate world.

From the 6th semester, the internship season ends and the companies start their recruitment process. So, hence students from the 6th semester become eligible for campus placements. More than 240 companies visit our college during the campus placements and the top hiring companies are TCS DIGITAL, WIPRO Ltd., FLIPKART, BAJAJ, JUSTDIAL, PEPSICO, HCL TECHNOLOGIES, INFOSYS, ITC Ltd., BAJAJ, SONY CORPORATION, and BHARTI AIRTEL. During the campus placements in the year 2019, some of the top companies like FLIPKART and INFOSYS had offered a record-breaking package of 26 lakhs per annum and the average package offered by other companies ranges between 4-5 lakhs per annum. Basically at the end of the 3rd year, almost 60-70% of the CSE and IT students successfully get their placement and the rest of the students surely gets placed in their final year.

The fees charged by our college for any Btech course is 3.85 lakhs for 4 years and for some of the students it would be very much hard to pay the fees. But they need not worry as our college provides various financial aid to those students in the form of scholarships or study loans. Students who are unable to pay their fees are provided with flexible study loans by the college at 0% interest rates and students can return them at any time whenever possible. Also, the meritorious students who have scored more than 9 CGPA in the semester exams are provided with INR 20000 each so that they can overcome some of their financial and educational expenses. Several part-time jobs in the college are also available as students can work in canteens, libraries, gardens, and goods shops, and can get a decent stipend up to INR 5000 per month by which they can be financially independent.

Haldia Institute of Technology has state-of-the-art infrastructure including air-conditioned spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, computer centers, and a library. The institution has 50 fully airconditioned, spacious, well-lit, and airy classrooms with a seating capacity of more than 80 students. The classrooms are also equipped with projectors and microphones for interactive learning. The library of Haldia Institute of Technology is an integral part of the institution which supports the aims of the college towards imparting and providing the latest information to the students for developing their quest for knowledge and self-reliance. The total number of books has gone up to 87850 on various subjects of Engineering, Science and Management and a good number of journals and magazines are also available in the library.

Haldia Institute of Technology has vowed to provide its students a home away from home environment that guarantees a homely atmosphere for their wellbeing and happy stay throughout their academic career, here within the campus. The hostel comprises 225 rooms including kitchen, dining hall, warden's quarter, etc. Which are located on the ground floor. The two bedded rooms on each floor can accommodate around 400 students assuring them comfortable stay and at the same time taking care of all their basic necessities and requirements. The hostel also has a well-furnished, spacious, and well-lighted dining hall that can accommodate almost 160 students eating at a time. Since proper diet and nourishment of the students is the foremost concern of the college authorities, therefore a balanced diet having the right proportions of carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats, and proteins are provided for the growth and development of the students.
