Remarks

I applied for about 2-3 colleges. The reason I didn't take admission was travelling distance. For me, Mithibai had the most feasible travelling options among others. You need to have a science background to opt for BSc in Computer Science. Mathematics should be a subject in your junior college. The minimum cut off for BSc Computer Science in mithibai college was about 75% for the first list which decreased approximately upto 68% for the third list. Mithibai has a Gujarati quota. The admission process was smooth. After getting selected in the merit list, you need to pay fees through an online portal within selected days. Then after few days, you will be called to the college to submit specific documents regarding your admission. That's it from the applicant's side. Now, they will verify your documents and provide you with specific dates, for you to join the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The faculty consists of well qualified professors, most of them are even PHDs in specific fields. The teaching method is great and includes good presentation and communication from the teacher's end. Mithibai uses well equipped technology like smart boards which makes education a bit easy and interesting. The term exams are conducted timely when other colleges are having their exams. The portion gets completed on time and we in fact have preparation left before the exams. The exams are not that difficult. If you are attentive during lectures and put in a little effort on daily basis and you will easily get going with the exams.

Internships Opportunities

3

The Internship opportunities were actively provided during the third year of college. There were only few opportunities provided during the first two years of college. The Internship roles were related to fields like graphic design, digital marketing, sales and marketing, human resources, web development, app development, etc. Few of the Internships were paid while few had some associated incentives.

Placement Experience

4

Mithibai has a Training and placement cell that provides on campus placement opportunities. TnP cells provide internship/ placement offers from the Third year onwards, the same goes for the training too. They also train you for your placement cycle through workshops on, resume building, interviews, dressing etiquette, etc. Additionally, interviews and tests are also being conducted. A few of the companies that came on campus were Deloitte, Infosys, Barclays and the stipend ranged from 3 lakhs per annum to 6 lakhs per annum. the average package was around 3-4 lakhs per annum. Apart from technical roles company also offer roles like sales and marketing, analyst, etc. I am planning to get a break of a year or two after my graduation while looking for a job in that period. After that, I will most probably be going for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Mithibai provides scholarships for special castes and background people. I didn't receive any scholarship since I don't fit in any of those criteria. During our second year of college, students were provided with the option to pay the fees in 2 instalments. I special cases, students are been provided with such options regularly. I am currently in my third year and college is providing us with placements and internship opportunities. Though I wasn't able to bag any job or internship from campus yet.

Campus Life

4.5

Mithibai has fests all year long. Almost all departments in the college have their own annual festival. Mithibai Kshitij is the most popular festival organized by the students of Mithibai. It's also the largest growing college fest in Asia. Interested students can apply in any of the departments in the fest which includes the PR team, marketing, graphics, etc. I was part of the digitals and graphics team of Mithibai's Entrepreneurship Development Cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
