Entrance Preview

Basis my Standard X Score of 84% (SSC Board - 2005) I got admission to the college. I'm from General Category so it was a bit difficult for me to get into this college, generally MCC has high cut offs.

Internships Opportunities

There is nothing such as internships, projects, assignments, submissions, summers, winters, etc etc in B.Com. We did not have to do anything.

Placement Experience

3.5

There is no placement offered after completion of your B.Com. It is just a basic degree Nowadays, everyone goes for CA, CS, CMA, Actuarial Science, CFA, FRM etc courses. Only B.Com. won't get you a great job.

College Events

4.5

I have to mention here, that I did not participate in the college fests, events, cultural meets etc, as the college administration is pretty boring and no one took interest in extra curricular or co curricular activities such as technical, cultural, management festivals, college fests, events, cultural meets, etc. This college is not a great place for such occasions.

Alumni/Alumna

No alumni networking was done by the college, but all students used to know each other and students across the batches because almost everyone was doing Chartered Accountancy.

Exam Structure

For Std XII as well as for B.Com, the exams are conducted as specified by Mumbai University. Internals are held properly, and students are examined thoroughly. Exams are conducted in strict manner, and no non sense is tolerated. First and Second Year of B.Com generally no one takes seriously, as in Mumbai - B.Com score for the third year is only considered important for further studies purposes.

Admission

During my time the admission process was not electronic. We had to stand in the queue for hours together, for collecting forms, submitting applications, documents, for each round of list of students admitted to see if my name appears in the list! Now it has all changed.

Faculty

4

Faculty of the college is generally very good, B.Com has only 3 hours of lectures per day, but unlike other commerce colleges, in MCC the faculty actually come and teach. The course syllabus is defined and is comprehensive. Generally everything that is important from the exam point of view is comprehensively covered in the classroom.

Placement Experience:

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

Remarks:

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
