Mukul Dohara's Review On Kishinchand Chellaram College - [KC College], Mumbai

There was no entrance exam. Admissions were basis the marks obtained in the 12th standard. I chose to study Statistics because of my interest in the subject. I took admission in this college because it has been a reputed college in Mumbai for many years now. The college infrastructure, course curriculum, faculty, fees and location were important considerations for me to choose this college.

The course curriculum was very well developed. I had compared the course of KC College with other reputed colleges of Mumbai and found that its structure was at par with most others, in fact higher than many of the colleges. The syllabus gave us a holistic overview of the concepts and subjects taught and the assignments helped strengthen our understanding of the same.

The college does provide for internship for the development of students. I worked at a media organisation called Blue Bytes, which was among the best organisations where our batch students worked.

Placement and job opportunities at KC College are at par with industry standards. We have reputed companies across various sectors like Taj Group, Yes bank, Axis Bank, Accenture and Wipro visiting the campus. Almost all students got placed in our batch. Some of them opted out of the process to join their family businesses. The average package ranged between 1 lakh to 5 lakh per annum.

There are multiple student associations and cells in the college - academic cell, events cell, cultural committee, sports cell, NSS, Rotaract Club, etc., which are driven by the students themselves, under the guidance of our esteemed faculty. Annual festivals like Blitzkreig, Joule, Kiran, etc. are organised by various departments of the college and we all participated with great enthusiasm in each of them.

The fees was quite affordable, which was one of the reasons why I chose to study here. Fees was easily payable through DD or banker's cheque. My course fee was around 50,000 rupees for three years, inclusive of the facilities provided by the college.

I am not too sure about the loan facility, but the college does offer scholarship facilities for students.

Studies and examinations were very well-planned and balanced at KC College. It was more about the holistic development of a student, rather than burdening them with lots of assignments and examinations. At the same time, the college ensured that students don't take the system leniently and prepare well for the college and university examinations.

I bought the admission form from the college campus since I stay nearby. The form was easy to fill and required details like my personal information, family background, educational details, marks obtained in 10th standard and junior college. I attached the original and attested copies of the documents required and submitted the form at the admissions department before deadline.

Faculty at KC College is class apart. They were really warm and welcoming in our first sessions and handheld us in our transition from junior college to graduation. They helped us understand the concepts and theory of our subjects and even offered to help with extra classes for students who were unable to cope with the pressure. They helped us with some extra notes during exam.
