Remarks

I Have applied to this college through JEELET 2020 because i have to take admission on Metallurgical Engineering as i am a Diploma Holder in Metallurgical Engineering. After JU it is the only option in West Bengal and it is near to my home so i choose it. If anyone wants to join this university they should get a good Rank in WBJEE or JEELET or JEEMain. After counseling, you should fill a form provided by the university and before that, you have to pay the 1st sem fees as admission fees and upload the document and other documents on the form after that you will get mail from the university, and also they publish the selected student list in their portal and following it you have to present on the mentioned date with all your documents for physical verification. No need to worry that are very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I have choosen the stream because i have a Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering so i dont want to change my stream and other than that this stream has more job opportunities than other core engineering streams. The student and faculty ratio is good because low intake capacity only 30 seats are available but only 17 students are in our class. PhD is common for all faculties and some of them have really great industry experience like our HOD and TPO, Director and they share their knowledge and experience while teaching a topic. Two semesters are there every year and internal assignment submission practice exams are there like other college pr universities. The level of question is high enough so the exam is tough.

Internships Opportunities

4

our student coordinator of placement cell and our TPO tries hard to get good internships in the industry they have already a plan of internship in Tata steel. They have told us that if anyone wants to get an internship in 7th sem on Project work then they will be sent to IIT KGP, IIT Bombay, NML Jamshedpur, NIT Durgapur. We are already enrolled in various training programs like now a training program on Applied Chemistry on Metallurgy basically Coal and Rare earth elements are discussed in this training by NML Jamshedpur. and some of us are already registered with a one-month Industrial training program on Metallurgy by NML Jamshedpur.

Placement Experience

3.5

Regarding placement i have to say that we are in 3rd year and in B-tech we are the 1st batch so we have no idea about placement but if we compare placement of Diploma candidates of Metallurgucal engineering & Mining engineering the companies offered them an average of 15000/month some of the recruiters offer 17000-18000/month and we hope we will get atleast 25k per month offer if we compare with present situation. My is to get a job of metallurgist in any steel industry near my home town asansol, ranigaunge, durgapur, dhanbad etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I think fees is quite high, if they reduce the fees like JU, KU, UIT then it will be helpful for poor students. But they provide all kinds of financial supports, They did not pressurise the students for paying the fees in advance. Scholarships are available here like SVMC and other small amounts of scholarships also. Specially student credit card is available here and university authority encourage us to get thsi facility. Still now i dont have any job because i am in 3rd year so i have to wait for the end of this year.

Campus Life

5

In general campus life is good. all kinds of activities are here like annual sports, fest, tech fest, Saraswati puja, biswakarma puja and other special days also. Classrooms are very nice well lighted, marble floor, audio visual facility with projector and sound system in the classroom. Books are provided by the book bank means library and a large no of books are here so dont worry about books. We have IIE cell where i am a member of this Cell. This cell has various divisions and every division is doing something for us.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
