Remarks

After completion of my Diploma in Metallurgy, I hold a rank on JEELET2020 and after counseling, I got this University. It is the only option after Jadavpur for B-Tech in Metallurgy in West Bengal and I am from Ranigaunge so it is quite near because it is in Asansol. I have no quota facility but if you have you will get a better rank in quota so the probability to get this university will be high. I had already 80% in my Diploma and having a valid rank I am able to join here. If you are going to take admission after the 12th you must go through WBJEE or JEE Main and hold a minimum of 45% in Science. Overall admission procedure was good.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

KNU has a great Lab facility on its campus for Metallurgical and Mining Engineering students. The course curriculum is very similar to trending technology in metallurgy. The Faculties are highly qualified minimum qualification is Ph.D. but they are very helpful to students and teaches us in an easy manner with audiovisual also. The Student-Teacher ratio is 6:17 so it is very good. Every year we have two semesters, internals, practical exams.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship on Project work will be arranged at IIT KGP, IIT Bombay, NIT Durgapur, and NML Dhanbad is assured by our HOD & TPO and Industrial internship at Tata Steel, Tata Metaliks and nearby Companies will be arranged. But we have to wait for that time. But I have to mention that NML Jamshedpur is already giving us Industrial Training on Metallurgy. So hope for the best.

Placement Experience

3.5

We are the first Batch in B-Tech but our TPO, HOD, Student Co-ordinator in Training and Placement Cell assured us that they will provide a good placement drive but we have to prepare for that. If we see the Diploma placements it is quite accepted that a Diploma Holder gets an offer of monthly 17000-18000/month minimum 14000/month in this present situation so expect something better not the bitter, let's see. I will not accept a job offer if it will be below 25000/month then I will choose to complete M-tech.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is high for me because I am from a poor family but I get an SVMCS scholarship so I don't have enough problem but in view, they should reduce their fees and exam enrollment amount. Financial assistance is available here.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is good, a very green open area campus. The classrooms are very nice. It is equipped with a projector and sound system facility. Free wifi is here but speed is very slow. All types of cultural programs are organized by the university and we have to participate in them. I am a member of the IIE cell in this university.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
