Remarks
Thapar is a very well-known college in Northern India. Its admission process is quite the same as NIT's. Admission in Thapar is on the basis of JEE rank. When I first saw the list of Thapar I was allotted Electronics and Communication branch. I sat for the spot round and finally got Electronics and Computer.
Course Curriculum Overview
I got Electronics and Computer at Thapar. I really liked this branch. This branch offers versatility in both fields. Got experience in working in both fields. We had 2nd year full with electronics subject and 3rd year with computer subject. Really gave us the opportunity to choose which field to proceed to before placements.
Internships Opportunities
There were internships available inside the college and outside the college. Companies started giving opportunities to us in the 3rd year. Big MNC also provided opportunities during the internship cycle. Due to high competition, there was very few chances before the 4th year.
Placement Experience
One of the key factors of Thapar been well known is its placement. More than 100+ companies with various options and opportunities from software development to business development, sales, and marketing.
Fees and Financial Aid
Only the top 10% of each branch were offered scholarships. Our fees were quite high but always made me feel to perform better to save some money. We had Academic fees + Hostel Fees + Mess charges as fees breakdown.
Campus Life
Thapar is full of events. It has more societies than Food vendors in Patiala. Almost every month there were different social events full of fun and surprises. We had sports events inter-intra college. We had different cultural events also.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel Facilities were excellent in Thapar. Staff in each hostel were very dedicated to their work. Very well maintained mess facilities. Our hostel warden was very considerate we use to get us opened till 2 pm during exams.
