IIT Roorkee : Be Your Dream

Indian Institute of Technology - Roorkee is among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher education basic and applied research. Since its establishment, the Institute has played a vital role in providing the technical manpower and know-how to the country and in pursuit of research. The Institute ranks amongst the best technological institutions in the world. It has also been considered a trend-setter in the area of education and research in the field of science, technology, engineering and Management. I choose this institution over others because of the strong research-oriented infrastructure coupled with pioneer professors in finance offered by the institute. It is situated at a very nice place. It has a huge and well maintained campus.

I have enrolled in Ph.D. in finance because the department of management studies IIT Roorkee is ranked among top Management institutions. Yet there are only 6 students are in my batch under one supervisor. Everything is timely here. It is not so difficult to pass the exams but you have to study a lot.

The professors sometimes give opportunities to work with them on several projects other than that we cannot work anywhere as I am getting JRF. But for MBA there are very good opportunities for internships as well as for job. Many reputed company come on the campus for recruitments.

Placements and job opportunities are different for different departments but For the management studies departments the average package for MBA is approx 14-16 lpa . There is 100% placement. I'll go for academics, want to join any reputed institute as Assistant Professor.

Fees is little bit higher than IIMs or central universities but you can avail scholarship either JRF or the same amount from the institute if you don't have JRF. Also if you are working on any project with your supervisor then you'll get some amount for that also.

Annual fest is Thomso & Tech fest is Cognizance generally organized in march. you'll find almost all the journals and books and remote access to library and various databases. You can download research papers and books as pdf. Fully AC classrooms. There was only a personal interview only one round. Questions were asked only from academics or specially from the area I have applied for i.e. Finance. I have revised all the subjects related to finance that I have read in my Graduation and Post-Graduation.
