Remarks

Because it was newly opened and provided new infrastructure and labs by the govt. The campus was also in himachal pradesh. the weather is good and it was close to my home town, so I opted for my course here. And I can tell you, go for one year drop if you can take some better collg than this(only if you are capable)

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The faculty needs to be improved and the practical work should be given more preferance rather on the bookish knowledge. But the teachers were very much frank and friendly with the students and we didnt faced any problem in completing some projects and in exams as well.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

As per our syllabus, there were two internships- one at the end of the third year and second in 7th semester. First internship was of 6 weeks and second was of 5-6 months. The intership can be opted for some industry or construction site as per your branch or stream allows. One advice- Choose companies wisely, while working with them you can earn some skills which will help you later in your jobs as well.

Placement Experience

1

There were no campus placements that took place from our college because it was newly opened then. but i think they will start campus placements soon. Best wishes to the college for that, and one advice- Give students more exposure to attend PI or GD.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The cost of the course is nearly about 30 thousand per semester, plus they will take some examination fees for each semester and some mislaneous charges as well. For girls the fees is half and i think its not fair. Plus you can add the cost of living there travelling everyday to collg and food charges other expenses as well.

Campus Life

3.5

Talking of the campus, its not like you see in the NIT's or the IIT's, but its in the middle. There's one icecream shop in the collg campus. and few canteens around the collg. ran by local people. A cafeteria is a must there. Talking of clubs, there is a cultural club which deals with music and cultural events like dancing, singing and other curricular activities, sports club, literary club, robotics, civil engg society and some other clubs are also there.

Hostel Facilities

4

When we were in the college. there were no hostel provided as such. So we have to take rented apartment in nagrota town and which costed around 1700-1800 for a single room (one person) and 6000 for a well furnished two room set ( for three - four persons) and talking of PG's it costed around 6000 with food for a single person. If you are in a rented apartment you can have food from tge tiffin services there and they will charge you around 3000 for three meals in a day.

Admission

No, there was no PI or GD for yhe admission. Hptu takes a separate test known as HPCET for enterance and you can take admission on the basis of JEE- Mains marks. and the cutoff is 20-25 marks below the NiT's. You can also avail admission with your 10+2 marks for the remaining seats and there's a spot round as well.

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I liked horticulture .This course is very well applied in real world in cultivation and growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers and horticulture also has job opportunities in private sector. There are some improvements like more practical learning, real world exposure etc. that could be made to make this course more effecgive in real world application. The exams are conducted per semester and the difficulty level of exams is average.
