Should you choose IIITG?

I choosed this institute because reviews were amazing on Quora about it, and also we talked to some of the faculty members of the institute, they convinced us that institute will be the best choice for us. I have even talked with the director of the institute, and after that I was pretty much convinced. Plus, this IIIT was new but it had just got its new permanent campus, so hostels were very new and rooms were big. Food was nice, compared to other colleges. And as seniors told us, faculty was also very helpful with the subjects. Bad things about the Institute is that, there is no facility around of it as it is a new campus. No stationary shop, no banks or nothing was around, we had to go to city to buy our stuff. Although, institute provided bus service every weekend to go to city and buy whatever we needed.

I choosed this course because I was interested in Computer Science only. The course curriculum is similar to IIIT Hyderabad, so it doesn't contain any unnecessary subjects like engineering drawing and all, also you are not taught PCM right in your first sem, instead you are taught basic Computer Science related core subjects. PCM comes with one subject in every semester. 50+ students were assigned to 1 faculty. All the faculties are PHD holders, and most of them are from IITs, and many of them have good knowledge about the core subject. There is a bit communication challenges here though, as this is an institute from Assam, so faculties have an Assamese or Bengali accent, which becomes little difficult for students from non-eastern states to understand. You can go to their cabins and even in their flats nearby to ask your doubts, and they never refuse it. Terms exams happen with 2 months gap. It is mostly difficult to pass the exams, but one who has listened everything clearly in the class can do them easily.

Legato came to the institute with 40k per month stipend and 3 months duration. They asked for Machine Learning roles. Campus internship opportunities are increasing with every coming year, but there isn't any big company which has come for internship drive yet.

Students become placement ready after their 3rd year. Most of the companies visit campus in the 7th semester. Some companies which visited Campus are: Jio, Samsung, Toppr and many more. Latest placement stats are not out yet, but last year I guess the highest package was 14 lpa , could be higher. Most of the students get placed from campus itself. My plans after getting the degree is to start a business.

Fee increases with every new batch that joins. Don't really have much idea on how they do it. Not sure about the scholarship. Financial assistance I think you get, by submitting fees through EMIs. I am still a student so haven't got any jobs till now.

Yuvaan is the Annual Fest of IIITG which consists of both cultural and technical fests. Mostly it is conducted in the month of March. Books and Journals are not too much in quantity to suffice 202 batch of students. The library is very short and very less no. of books are there. Classrooms are great, and well organized with facilities. Extra curricular activities happen a lot with the clubs being active throughout the year. But sports facility is not so great. There is only one ground for all your sports related needs, and it is a common ground for both boys and girls, mostly occupied by boys.

IIIT Guwahati

Entrance Exam: JEE Mains, Year: 2018, Score: 136/360

There were no rounds as such. Admission happened solely upon the merit we get from JEE Mains. After admission, there was an orientation session that lasted for around 1 month I guess, but no test as such.
