Industrial Power and Automation in NIT Calicut is an industry oriented course wherein focus on being updated with the current industry is of high importance. The reason for choosing this course was the previous reviews as to this branch having excellent lab facilities. The lab is equipped with all the industrial setup such as SCADA, DCS, PLC, MIMO, Internet of Things lab, Industrial Robot, DSpace, LabView, renewable energy systems etc. Students have direct access to every single equipment and are free to do their project or research using them. Moreover this department is highly active in organizing events to bridge gap between academia and industry.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is relevant with the current industrial requirements like Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Management, Robotics, Industrial Instrumentation, Control System, Hybrid Electric Vehicles etc. There are 5 core faculties in this department who guide the MTech as well as PhD students. Teaching method is the exact required one for MTech with proper guidance and an interest to support when we try to learn anything apart from curriculum. Term exams were conducted according to college calendar regularly and difficulty level would be moderate.

Internships Opportunities

Internships available for Industrial Power and Automation are in Analog Devices, ABB, Bosch, Continental AG, Affluence, L&T etc. They vary every year.

Placement Experience

Placements are decent for some branches whereas is good for others. Exact details about placement is updated in the college website every year. Generally software companies offer the highest package followed by semi-conductor based companies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Total Fees (Excluding Hostel) = Rs. 1,59,310/- for 4 semester MTech. Financial assistance is given to those genuinely in need from the college. Campus placements vary from branch to branch. Placement percentage of Industrial Power and Automation is generally good considering both campus and off campus placements.

NITC has a beautiful campus with amenities for sports, arts etc. There are arts and literature clubs Robotics Interest group and constant activities for those who are interested. There is a digital library as well as offline one. Moreoever the college has an institutional license for IEEE, Springer journals etc as well as softwares like MATLAB.
