Remarks

I applied for Karuna medical college, Coimbatore, but did not join as the patient load was less. The minimum mark for admission was 80% and age for admission was 17 years. The admission process was easy, hassle-free, with assistance from the staff regarding admission procedures.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course due to my love for medicine as a subject as well as for service to society. We had well-trained faculty with timely lectures and a good faculty: student ratio. The faculty were all highly qualified, experienced, and trained students using state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure. Exams were conducted on a timely basis in the form of internal assessments, and pre-university examinations. Exams were of a high standard.

Internships Opportunities

4

We had a one-year compulsory rotatory internship at the main hospital of yenepoya medical college along with rural and urban postings at rural and urban health care centers respectively. We were provided with a stipend for the internship and adequate offs for extra duties performed.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees weren't hiked during the period of study. No scholarships were provided. But there were research programs we could apply for under ICMR for which we were given grants. We were provided with stipends during the compulsory rotatory internship of one-year duration at the campus.

Campus Life

4

There were library facilities including the latest edition of books, journals, research papers along with an air-conditioned library with adequate space and lighting for the students to study round the clock. There was also a computer center for online browsing and studies. We had a good sports facility with football and basketball grounds and an indoor stadium and gymnasium.

Hostel Facilities

4

3 students shared a hostel room in the main hostel, which was adequately spacious and had an attached bathroom. Meal quality was top notch with a varied menu. Registration for the hostel was hassle-free and affordable. Hostel had all facilities like a store, tv room, pantry, reading room, prayer hall etc

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
