Entrance Preview
I took WBJEE entrance examination and score a rank of 8039 and got the college and department in 2nd counselling. Usually the seats for Mechanical department gets closed within 2000 - 3000 rank. I was lucky enough to get a seat at my rank in the second round of counselling.
Internships Opportunities
No, this facility is not there for under-graduates. But the student for masters do join the college and get a stipend between 15k to 25k.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario is also quite good, with the IT giants like Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Ericssion global, Huawei technology, Mindtree, Birla Soft, HPL & L&T infotech and the core companies like Vedanata, Linde group, L&T, exide, Titagarh Wagon, ABCI infrastructures & Tata Power coming for on campus placements and several other companies are offering walk ins.
College Events
We had holidays on all the most celebrated festivals like Diwali, Durga puja and other occasions and breaks after each semester. The widely felicitated occasions in the college were VISHWAKARMA PUJA. Then we had college annual, cultural and technical fest celebrated every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was quite nominal at my time averaging 25k each semester as tuition fee and the hostel rates were 6400 each semester. Except the there were examination fees, development fees, and then there was collection at the time of fest celebration and other donation activities. This was later increased after we passed out upto 45k each semester which is still less as compared to other colleges.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, i did not avail any loan, nor than i am aware of any such scholarship within the college. But i had heard of several humanitarian cases, where individuals were helped monetarily.
Campus Life
Our college had comparatively a lesser female to male ration as it is in outskirts of Kolkata. But the population cannot be termed as less. There are enough space, amenities and opportunities for games, sports and extra curricular activities. Hailing from a interior part of Bengal the college vicinity is full of Bengali people but the inside the campus they are very well distributed and is very lively.
Alumni/Alumna
We have different pages over Facebook and we have a site where almost all the alumni are registered and it makes very easy to coordinate with people. I am still in touch of most of my seniors and still refreshes the memory of college from time to time. We have a Alumni meet every year too.
Exam Structure
We had two internals included with one semester of 6 months, that makes a total of 8 semester in the entire 4 year. Internals contributed 20 percent of the marks and the rest were externals. Labs was integral in each semester, final year having the maximum marks.
Faculty
I would rate them 8 out of 10. Some of the faculties are real genius, to name Prof. T.K.Jana, Asst.Prof. Sourav Manna are the one i admire and will always have utter respect for them. Other faculties are also nice and take profound interest in teaching as well as experiments.
