Remarks
I took admission in 1st cut off and it was 94 for General. There is a 1 percent relaxation for girls. So, I managed to get in. There are not many colleges in DU that offers Biochemistry honors, So, it was one of the few choices. The admission process was smooth. The faculty is great.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I wanted to go into the research field as I was fascinated by genetics, microbiology, and biotechnology. The faculty is quite good and in my batch 28 students were there and 5 teachers for 5 subjects each. The department has the oldest faculty and is highly qualified professors. Their teaching method is quite great. Term exams happened every six months. Viva and labs exams were easy but theoretical exams were kind of hard.
Internships Opportunities
Research projects and summer internships happened under the guidance of department professors. This was compulsory as it was going on under DBT. There was no stipend. Projects were like research methodology, the life of a fruit fly in genetics, strategies to combat infectious diseases, etc.
Placement Experience
Placements are not that good for science students. No company visits as such for b.sc. students. We were advised to opt for higher studies. So, it was not that good. My plan is to pursue an m.sc. after getting a degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure for 1st year was 23,400. 2nd year- 19000. 3rd year- 18000. There were some concessions for reserved quota students like Muslims, J and K migrants, etc. There was a society called Campus placements cell which held seminars for students. There are not many jobs after b.sc.
Campus Life
The annual fest was vibrations held every year and it was really fun cause many singers, celebrities, bands like local train, yellow diary. This was conducted in the month of February. The campus has the largest library and it's the best part of college. It is all digitized according to modern technology. And there are a lot of books available. The research labs of the departments are good and there were lot of equipments to experiment with. All kind of sports like basketball, bat ball, volleyball was available. Indoor games like chess etc. Was also there. Societies were the best part of college. Like vayam, vibgyor, shutterbug for theatre, arts, photography, and many more. There were academic societies as well like tedex etc.
