Remarks
The beautiful city of Dehradun was one of the main factors behind me wanting to study here. Apart from that, I really liked the fact that it has state of the art educational facilities supervised by highly trained and experienced coordinators and decided to apply here. The admission process is quite simple. I just had to visit the official admissions portal and fill in the application form. The registration fees was Rs 1500.
Course Curriculum Overview
Most of our faculty members are highly qualified and have had worked with prestigious institutions such as Harvard business School, IIM, FMS, XLRI MIT Sloan, and many more. They use an array of teaching tools like case studies, role-plays, simulation exercises, real-life project management etc. All my professors are quite friendly and I have a good relationship with each and every one of them.
Internships Opportunities
I was selected for two months of summer training by Samsung as a marketing manager. In this post, I got to work with a wide variety of people from the creative team to the sales team and developed a lot of practical skills like working in teams, decision making, . Mostly everyone was nice and friendly and they also taught me a lot of things about the field of marketing. I earned a stipend of Rs 10,000.
Placement Experience
The school maintains strong corporate relationships over 100 plus companies and also conducts recruitment events every year to ensure placement for everyone. Last year, interviews in 70 corporates were arranged for student during the placement season. some of the top companies that visit our campus are Grant Thornton, Amazon, HSBC, Asian Paints, Calvin Klein, Godrej, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Vodafone, ITC, American Express and so on. Highest package was 16.4 LPA and average package is around 6 LPA.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fee for my program is around Rs 92000. Other than I had to pay Rs 35000 as admission fees for seat confirmation, Rs 10,000 as security fees, and Rs 7,500 for career development cell, industrial visits, club membership and so on. I was required to take up an additional certificate course for which I had to pay an additional Rs 15000.
Campus Life
My school is known for its state of the art infrastructure and well-maintained libraries. I had access to a lot of international business and law journals which helped me to stay up to date about my field. Other than that, the library contains a lot of case studies which came in handy during the examination. Various extracurricular activities are also conducted on-campus throughout the year like Fashion show, dance and music performances, concerts, theatre performances, festivals etc.
Hostel Facilities
I opted for the hostel facilities available at my college as I did not have much idea about renting flats or PGs in Dehradun. The residence building was located within the campus only. I chose to stay at a double room with a common washroom. The room is quite comfortable and the view from my room is great too. I paid a rent of around Rs 54,000 for the first year. Cost of meal plan is included with the amount.
Admission
Based on my score in CAT, Undergraduate degree, 10th and 12th aggregate scores, I was shortlisted and had to appear for an interview in the final round. The interview round was the most important round and so I prepared extensively for it. I had to tackle questions regarding my future after MBA, my career plans and my reasons for choosing Doon Business School.
