Course Curriculum Overview
The student teacher ratio is something which makes this University stand out. Professors are generally very friendly and down to earth, though some of the Departments have lack of teachers. All of the faculties of Geography Department have more than 10 to 20 years of teaching experiences.The teaching method is mainly lecture method but uses projector or smart classes too for better understanding. Professors provide study materials after each and every class.Exams are generally on time and results and reviews are also very fast. Exam difficulty level is moderate to high, but not that much difficult for students who focus on class lectures.
Placement Experience
Generally Geography department has no placement options available in the dept. After completion of course one can go for B. Ed or PhD. After masters students can choose b ed for school teaching jobs, or opt phd for research.
Fee Structure And Facilities
So for yearly fees one have to bear 5000 approximately, and 300 for every semester exam as examination fees. Top 9% meritorious students of each semester gets 1500 for one semester. Geography department has no as such placement opportunities.
Campus Life
Cultural environment is something which makes this University stand out from others. Teachers' day, freshers welcome, farewell, cricket football tournaments are very common in the Departments. Students can participate in NSS or NCC or sports by choice. Central library of Visva-Bharati has free wifi connection and a lot of collection of competitive exams magazines and newspapers as well along with text books.
Hostel Facilities
There is a good amount of boys and girls hostel within the campus. Generally the rooms are 2 to 3 seater. Each room is provided with a ceiling fan and tube light and one charging point. Hostel is given on the basis of distance and merit. Hostel rent is minimal, i.e 450 for general candidates and its free for reserved category students. Each hostel has mess options or meal options. This is decided by the catering staffs who is given the tenders of food. All the hostel are within the campus with high security.
Admission
There is generally no GD of interview for MA admission. But graduate students from other than Visva-Bharati university have to go through an written admission test, based on which your admission can be done
