Remarks
Being the Oldest Engineering College of India situated along a metropolitan city, the college has a rich alumni base and fabulous track record of producing world renowned engineers in every field. The college was established in 1856 as Bishop's College Calcutta and consequently became an institute of national importance for India in 2014. The college can improve its rich and historical infrastructure and lead other institutions in many fields like Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering and others.
Course Curriculum Overview
Indian Institute Of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur has well devised courses in every field, a premier institute with experienced faculty and know-how. Most of the academics and faculties are well trained in IITs and NITs. It's Alumni base is spread over 100 countries and reputed international institutions.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus recruitment and placements through 6th semester. A sizeable number of companies visit the campus for placement especially tech giants like Microsoft, Google. Most of the students are placed before the completion of the course while the rest are may settle later after the completion of course.
Campus Life
The campus life at this college is at par with other premier institutions like IITKGP, IITG and NITDGP etc. Students are friendly and passionate to learn. Be it academics or extra curricular/ clubs, students get ample opportunity to follow their passion besides career building.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel buildings (like other infrastructure) needs to be revamped with administrative neglect being the sole reason of their degradation. Private accommodation are also available nearby at reasonable rates.
Admission
Like other engineering colleges, a written entrance test determines the admission in most of the premier institutions of India and so is the case in this college.
