Remarks
The Institution is one that is governed by a dynamic leadership that wants to expand its horizon with each passing year. The placements reflect this dynamism. If you want to get off to a good start after engineering, join S.C.O.E.
Entrance Preview
I took the MHT-CET (P-C-M) exam in order to secure admission to this college. I wanted to pursue computer engineering in a dynamic institute that was continuously on the rise. Hence I chose S.C.O.E.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was rigorous and covered all important concepts of Computer Engineering and Algorithms well. It also covered all industry required programming languages. The curriculum would build a student's logic for programming and algorithms. The practical curriculum was specifically hard and would be tough to crack in university exams.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not provide for internship while pursuing Computer Engineering. I believe the college does not provide internship for any engineering course.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario is excellent. The college has a Training and Placement Cell which looks after placements of engineering students. This cell is headed by Prof. Pitambare who is a veteran in this field with experience of more than 30 years, He drives the placements with the help of his industry contacts. The T&P cell also orghanizes training workshops to help students be industry ready.
College Events
The college has a technical festival that goes by the name of Excelsior. This event is handled separately by various Departments of the college. It involves technical events and competitions. There is also a cultural festival called Sinhgad Karandak. This event involves drama, dance performances and ramp walks etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. Fees for one year of engineering cost approximately INR 1,00,000. But the infrastructure provided by the college in classrooms and labs justifies the fees payed by a student. The fee structure is not costly and the return on investment is also good.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship is not provided by the college for any engineering course. There is also no loan facility provided by the college as such. If a student needs an education loan to fund his education, he/she will have to directly contact the bank.
Campus Life
The college does have a team that participates in competitions such as Robocon etc. Participation is based on technical merit and all students get equal opportunities to prove their merit as the selection process is not biased. The college also sends teams to sports events in various categories such as baketball, cricket and football.. Overall the extra-curricular campus life is good and student with interests will find ample opportunities for participation in various events.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel and mess food is decent. It is not too good but also not too bad. Normally students have their food outside on weekends. Hence, for 5 days a week, the mess food is decent for the price. It is a win-win situation considering the price for a student.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is very helpful. They brief you up about a company before the company comes for campus placements. Also the voluntarily conduct workshops on tools and technologies used widely in the IT industry.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is very simple. There is one semester. In one semester, there are two unit tests and one mock university exam. The mock university exam has a grading system exactly similar to the University Exam. the unit tests have a grading system exactly half to the University exam.
Admission
The Maharashtra Director of Technical Education (D.T.E) released a list of results which indicated that I had been allocated S.C.O.E based on my MHT-CET score. Thereafter the admission process was pretty simple. I had to take a confirmatory print out to the college which said I had been allocated this college by the D.T.E. I had to fill to information forms - one for the college and one for the University of Pune (to which the college was affiliated). I also had to pay the first year fees through a Demand Draft. I was provided an admission confirmation on payment of fees.
Faculty
The college faculty is well informed, research oriented and helpful. All the professors take active interest in student initiatives and projects. They are always available for extra sessions and are willing to help a student if he/she is struggling with a particular subject. The faculty will never provide insufficient marks for internals to any student. I would rate the faculty as very knowledgeable and technically sound.
