Remarks

College management is good, good infrastructure, social life, studies and extra academic activities. But, Deans are not very much helpful. Well, you would always find a way to every problem in this vast campus of 2400 (2100+300) acres. There is also a hospital, and college takes all your medical expenses.

Entrance Preview

I took JEE( mains+advanced) to get qualified for entrance in IITs. I score nearly 102 marks, which got me overall 51 rank in my category. I opted for iit kgp because, i heard many things about the college from seniors, internet and all. well, it was not my first choice in counselling, but i wasn't either disappointed.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is average, though vast. most of the time, the things are taught practically and the main focus is on the applications and the numerical. but, if one tries even an average, you shalt get good grades. there are video lectures available, e books, notes and all. full of resources. but, still i found the curriculum a bit tough.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my college provides internship. but, in order to get an internship by Career Development Cell of the college, one has to have good grades (CG 6 or 7 above). if yes, then there are vast opportunities. Ypu can go for core as well as non-core internships. Many of the interns get PPO from the same firm after internships. It all depends on how well you perform in internship. well, steepened depends on firm to firm ranging from (10k to 200k) per month.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are good. Almost 90% people above 7.5 CG gets placed. One thing is the reference that works here. it doesn't helps out all but at least some of the works can be made easy. Also, some involvement in co-curricular activities also helps. positions of responsibilities also help a little. and finally, when you make through GD and exams, its all upon you. U have to do good in interviews too.

College Events

5

The festivals and meets in the college are- Spring Fest- Cultural festival of IIT KGP. Kshitij- Techno- Management festival. Annual Alumni Meet Annual Entrepreneur's Meet. National Students Space Challenge and there are a lot more societies and productions throughout the year. One more thing, that takes the active participation of many students is the General Championships.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is like as follows- Hall+mess= 25000 (approx) Tution= 45000 others= 5000 to 10000, total= 75,000 to 80,000. These are the fees for my batch( approx figures). But, fee structure is very dynamic. changes every year. Also, there has been a huge fee hike for the new batches going upto 1,00,000 to 1,20,000. I find it expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a scholarship called MCM scholarship. it pays all your tution fees for college, if u qualify the Grade criteria. also, one can apply for scholarships externally. Also, there is a SBI within campus, which is there to provide loans to the students. But, the rates are not so attractive.

Campus Life

5

campus life is good, social and healthy. you get to know about many new things here. a couple of dozens of societies are there like Dance, drama, debate, AGVs, Team Kart, newspaper, etc. There is a Gymkhana, which is the center of all students activities. Gender ratio is too bad. male to female ratio is approx 15:1 and, i have mentioned about extra curricular activities in above sections. Also, there is a new medical college going to open.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hall facilities are good though. and this depends on which hall you get. but, generally, one gets 3 bedded room in 1st year and second year. and single rooms in next years forever..mess!! mess is really messy. the food is not up to mark. u wont get good food in mess. though there are canteens and restaurants but they are a bit expensive. But, one can live.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, alums have always been helpful. Some of the alums have even made such a huge donations to the college that there is a school of management on his name. senior's referrals work many of times. the provide extra funds for the students.

Exam Structure

Exams structure is a bit complex. classes are must. out of 100 marks, 50 are for end semester exams, 30 for mid semester exams and rest 20 for TA assessment, attendance and class tests. Its not too hard getting pass through exams, but the thing that takes some serious efforts is getting A grade. Most of the questions in exams are based on practical approach and the numerical.

Admission

First, after qualifying mains and advanced, one have to appear for online counselling. then you get a college as per the choice given by you in the counselling. then, on a given date, one have to appear to The college on a given date for admission. Documents were verified and you are done.!

Faculty

3.5

there are some good, some not good and some average faculties. Most of the professors are full of knowledge, helpful and kind. but, it is the student, who have to get to them for any help. Most of the faculties are Bengali though. One thing that i find that some faculties are only in the college for their research as a result they end up teaching non-interestingly which overall affects the students. in a nutshell, its average.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
