Course Curriculum Overview
Electronics and Communications open up more job prospects than just CSE i.e you are eligible for jobs in 3 fields. Given that, you must keep in mind that in India jobs are maximum in the IT-service sector. I recommend you read about the difference of working/growth in Electronics core, IT-service and product sectors. A rough estimate would be 1 teacher for every 24 students. Most of the faculty members are Masters and Ph.D. holders or enrolled in Ph.D. The teaching method of the engineering faculty in general in the whole of India except a few sincere teachers is such that even IITs have failed to produce Nobel prize winners in science. I hope this answers your question. Exams are held after about 1.5 months and you can easily pass the exams with one week of studying. Obviously, this method is not recommended but it is the reality of the engineering students. This method would get you marks but won't land you a good job so Learn thoroughly.
Placement Experience
After 6th-semester students become eligible for campus placements. Usually, service sector companies are the mass recruiters: TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, KPMG.ENY etc. Adobe is also one of the recruiters and it offers great packages Rs 12 lakh eligible only for Female Candidates. The highest packages can go above Rs 12 lakh p.a and the average is Rs. 3.5 lakhs p.a (TCS, WIPRO, etc) Job Profiles; Software Development Engineer (SDE), Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Sales Executive, etc. Usually, 93 % of the students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Compared to private engineering colleges, I find the fees are less comparatively given its great rankings and Govt. tag by UGC. There are scholarships available for: * Caste Reservation * EWS status * If your sibling studies in the same university. However, there are no merit-based scholarships.
Campus Life
If one thing GNDU is known for is its cultural fests. If you happen to study at GNDU you must participate in the Annual fest: JASHAN (MARCH), YOUTH FESTS (October-November). Bhai Gurdas Ji Main Library is a treasure of the university. You can even find the earlier editions of certain classics there. Govt Institutions have an inherent stubbornness with technology, GNDU has won the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's trophy 22 times.
Hostel Facilities
A bed, chair, table, almirah, fan, bulb. Air Conditioning is not available and you have to buy your curtains because Amritsar is freaking hot in summer. Ratings: 4/5 Pretty cost-effective, Registration process for the hostel is initiated through the website, after payment a hostel room is alloted to you. A hostel is budget-friendly than a PG because you get to grow up within the community. And usually, your closest friends at the graduation are your hostel mates. PGs are available just across the University's main gate in the UT market.
