Few but good companies( hard to crack)

1) I applied online on the college website www.thapar.edu. 2) I filled the preferences online. Based on that I was alloted ME. 3) For the next round of branch allocation we were invited to the college. 4) There were around 6-7 rounds in the college. 5) In the last round I got computer science derabassi campus. The process was a bit time taking but I got what I wanted in the end.

Exams are quite difficult. It is hard to prepare as we don't get relevent previous year papers as the syllabus gets changed almost every semester. In COVID they made centers in many different cities so that we don't have to gather in campus. No other college took this kind of step. Sometimes the endsem exams take more than 1 month of our time for preperation.

This year there were very less companies for summer internships. Only around 10 companies came. There were less but good companies. Arcesium offered 2 students, DE Shaw offered 2 students, JP Morgan offered around 25 students, Optum around 20 students. Also ION group, Texas instruments, Trident, Adobe(for females), GEP, Global Providence and Standard Chatered came.

Placements at Thapar are quite good. We get almost more than 300 companies coming on campus. The highest package this year was 43 lacs. The average package of computer science was around 11 lacs this year.

All the information regarding scholarships can be found on thapar.edu/ admissions/ pages/ scholarships. There were many scholarships provided by the college like Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship and AICTE - SWANATH scholarship.

Campus Life at thapar is really really good. We get every facility. The campus has a cricket ground, football ground, lawn tennis, badminton and volleyball court and swimming pool. And also every hostel has table tennis. The classrooms in which I have studied had AC and a projector. The library is also very big and has a good availability of books and journals. Also there are many socities like EDC, FAPS, Frish, Markfin and many more.

Hostel rooms are better than of many other colleges. In the first year we don't get AC. But in the 3rd year we get AC in almost every hostel. The food quality is also descent. Hostels are a little expensive but I am not disatisfied with service except the washrooms.

No we didn't face any Group Discussion or interview or written test for the admission process. There were councelling rounds on the basis of JEE Mains percentile and class 12th marks. I personally got the seat on the basis of my JEE Mains percentile.
