My college review- Thapar

My college admitted 70% of the students through JEE Mains and 30% through CBSE Boards. So for each course like CSE, ECE, etc., there was the respective cut based on the rank got through JEE Mains or the percentage in CBSE Boards. All the details regarding the application form, application fees, and application dates were available on the institute website (www.thapar.edu). Because of the state quota, the students from the Punjab State got benefited during the admission. The admission process was first online, and after the allotment of the seats in online counseling, the admission process got shifted to the offline mode based on the rank of JEE Mains or marks of CBSE Boards. Hence the overall admission process was simple and comfortable.

I choose the course because of the scope and application in practical life and the numerous job opportunities. So coming to the students in our class, we are 130 students for one teacher. Hence, it 1:130 (faculty:student ratio). All the lecture teachers are Ph.D. holders, but the teachers taking the labs are the mixed - lecture teachers and Ph.D. scholars pursuing Ph.D. under the college. As a normal college, there are all types of teachers, few are great and dedicated to teaching, and some are just normal. We have 1 Mid Semester examination and 1 End Semester Examination, and the sessions in between. And they can easily be passed by an average student giving 1-2 hours daily.

The fee of my college is very high, but at the same time, it also provides outstanding scholarships to the students based on their JEE rank and CGPA and other things. All the information about the scholarship is on the institute's website. Many good companies come to our college and give the great package.

There isn't just one fest in a year. There are multiple fests that depict the diversity. It includes all types of events, like technical and non-technical, to deep dive, get the basics of every domain, and explore college life to the fullest. In our tech fest, celebrities are invited, and multiple events are organized, helping the students explore different things and become better at different domains. These opportunities allow managing the event and other items, giving experience for the future. There are a lot of books and journals in the library covering different fields. Classrooms are big and fully air-conditioned. There is a projector and a computer on which teachers write while explaining the topic for a better understanding of the topic. Tables and chairs are comfortable for sitting and are arranged platform-wise as in theatres so that the students, at last, can understand the topic well. There is a big ground for outdoor activities, room for indoor, track for running.
