Brief review about WBSU

If you got 45% marks in graduation you are eligible for applying to West Bengal State University. University does not take any entrance examination in particular. The complete admission process is merit-based. If you want to get selected you must have first-class marks in graduation. On the official website of state university, you have to fill-up the pg form in your subject. There you have to give all the necessary documents. After that administrative will publish several merit lists which are based on graduation marks percentage. For the geography department, the competition is high and if you are a general candidate you have to get around 70% and more to get a seat here. However, if you belong to SC/ST/OBC category, some seats are reserved. You may get a chance with less percentage

As I have got good marks in my graduation and wanted to pursue higher study I have chosen this course. We have around 50 students in our geography pg department. And we have 5 professors and some guest lecturers. Our student-faculty ratio was decent. It's almost 9 students per one faculty. All of our professors are highly qualified. All of them have done PhD and they are very interactive even in online classes. Due to covid practical classes were not possible as college was closed. We have a total of 4 semesters, practical exams & internal assessment tests. Exams are moderate to pass

The fee is medium & budget-friendly for middle-class people. The total cost of the study is 25,000 in two years. Every semester the fee is more & fewer than Rs 6000. If you get good marks you can get a good amount of scholarships. If you do MA you get Rs 24,000 and if you do M.Sc you get Rs 30000. You can apply for SMCM scholarships or if you are a female candidate you can apply for K3. There are many scholarships available but our university approves only one scholarship and a maximum of two scholarships. This is not an engineering college so no campusing opportunity available.

Our university does arrange some cultural programs. But due to covid, it was not possible to celebrate festivals. However, if you take admission in the upcoming years I can assure you that you will find cultural programs happening in our university. Our library is no doubt is the best. The room is very large. And thousand of books are available and they are nicely organized in colourful bookshelves. There has enough space for studying. The room is well decorated and air-conditioned. Classrooms are nice and windows are made of glass so enough daylight in the room. The benches chair blackboard everything is modern. Yes, we have a table tennis room and we have a huge green campus. So many sports activity is available.
