The Best Marine College in India

The eligibility for the Btech course was very simple. We just needed 60% marks in Physics and Maths in our 12th standard. The application form can be found at the college's official website and it should be properly filled. The application fee is 500 rupees and then we get a date for our entrance exams. There are no reserved seats for students here as the admission is purely based on merit. The improvement that I wish to see in the admission process is that the written exam should be taken a little more difficult than the normal expectations. Further, the psychometric test should also be taken seriously.

I chose this course because I wanted to pursue engineering and that too after my 12th standard. The faculty-student ratio is 1:40 which is far better than any engineering college. The qualification of the faculty is minimum a Master's graduate or a retired Chief Engineer or Captain. This is a very good facility given to students to learn from the actual people themselves. The teaching method is more practical based rather than only theoretical based. The timely exams are every month and students are given ample amount of time to prepare well in advance. The difficulty of the papers was a little tough rather than being simple and easy to answer and complete.

The name of the companies are ESM, Maersk, MSC, British Petroleum, etc. The role offered in an internship is the fifth engineer with a stipend of 700$ per month. The projects and outcomes for these tasks are not that difficult. An interview along with your bachelor's grade is all that is required for the selection.

The students studying here become eligible for campus placements in the final year of their degree. It's in the seventh semester of Btech. Many number of companies offer placements here like Maersk, British Petroleum, ESM, MSC, etc. The average package for the job is around 1 lakh starting per month at junior levels which is more than enough. 100% of students get placements and there is not a single student who doesn't. My plans after getting my degree are to complete my internship and study for further level promotions in my field.

The total overall cost required to complete your engineering is about 16 lakhs. The cost is not that expensive because all the hostel facilities along with laundry, tuition fees, and other materials which we get are included in the fees. The internship which I got from my college is in a Singapore company called Executive Shipping Management (ESM) which gives a stipend of 700$ in my first sail as a fifth engineer. This is pretty much a good deal of stipend which I would receive from my company for doing the internship.

Here on campus, there are many fests that take place at regular monthly intervals for extracurricular activities and opportunities for the students. Here Samundra Manthan took place and an Olympiad for all students. There are also inter College competitions about running races, football, basketball, and many other games. There are group discussions and workshop practical competitions as well. Our library is stacked with all kinds of books including engineering background and various other sectors. Sports are given an important role in a student's life and Students participating in sports would get extra marks in their profile which encourages students to play more games and remain fit as well. There are actually no student groups or communities run by students as all are the same.

There are many numbers of facilities provided in hostel rooms such as hot water is available 24/7 and nice comfy rooms with only 2 students living. Each room has a separate washroom instead of public washrooms. The meal provided in the canteen is very good and healthy. No junk good is provided in the campus canteen and proper nutritious food is served. The registration of the hostel is done along with the admission itself and no other extra effort is to be made in acquiring that. There are also facilities for renting a room outside the campus but students still prefer the hostel due to its various good facilities.
