Remarks
The examination process was very simple, every information required was on the website. I took the DUJAT exam, the application form was available on DU's official website and other details also. The details were also sent to the mentioned email. The eligibility criteria are that a student should pass 10+2 with an aggregate of 45% marks from a recognized Board. Students must have studied and passed Mathematics at the qualifying examination for admission to B. Com. (Hons.). Selection is made based on marks obtained in qualifying examination including one language and three best subjects as per your subjects in 12th. An aggregate of 45% or more in English/Hindi and a combination of the best three among the following subjects: Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics, and Business Studies/ Commerce. Inclusion of any subject from like physical education or any other subjects in Form B will lead to a deduction of 1 percent in the total percentage. I think that DU should provide study material to students.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose B.Com (Hons.) Because that's what I wanted to do. We have 46 students in a class, the girls' ratio is less than the boy's ratio. In our class mostly are from Delhi, Haryana, etc so, there is not much diversity. The faculty is great. The teachers will help you even before one hour to the exam and they also guide students. Not only in academics they help in other fields also, but they also interact with students daily which I found helpful. They not only cover the syllabus but also teach out of syllabus topics which is interesting and helpful in learning the subject. They teach through ppts and books, provide study material, and demonstrate things practically also. The exam is the same for all the du colleges and they are timely held. The obe is not hard, and you teachers give marks according to your performance in class for internal assessment. Anyone can pass in obe as long as they answer correctly.
Internships Opportunities
Placement cells provide internship opportunities in college and companies like Techcurators, Pre entrepreneur, prep touch, etc, and many more companies. There is a variety of internship opportunities like graphic designer, human resource, content writer, sales, marketing, etc, students can join or apply for any internship they like. The work and responsibilities are also clearly mentioned, with time duration, work location, perks and benefits, and other details. The process of selection is also mentioned. Most of them are unpaid internships but there is some stipend based also. I never tried getting an internship through the cell but I have seen my friends getting internships and doing work. There are no restrictions on how many internships you can do at once or on how many you can apply. The placement cell provides you with an internship at hand, students Don't have to find anything they provide every detail.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is fair, not too costly. Students can always issue books from Library otherwise teachers provide notes which are easy to understand and very helpful. There are many scholarships for students like for example there is a scholarship for students in B.Com Hons. A 2nd-year student who gets the highest marks in the exam. There are many internship opportunities, in the college, there is a society called "Placement cell" in which they provide internship opportunities with or without stipend. Anyone in the college can apply for the internship. Many students do internships according to them and also get job offers from the company. The placement cell is active all year, so even if someone misses or couldn't get the internship they can always apply to the next one. The placement cell team is really friendly they also help students if they have any Query.
Campus Life
Due to covid, I was not able to live campus life. Seniors organized a virtual fresher which was great. The annual fest was also organized virtually which was also great. Shivaji College has the biggest library, availability of books is not something we have to worry about. The library has a variety of books from which you can choose. Also, the teachers provide e-books, PDFs, and study material. In college, there are many societies. But due to the covid everything happened virtually, the societies are active but many students do not participate or don't know about all of them. Only the societies that can operate virtually are known to students but there are other societies also like music or fashion society that students like to join but can't. They are on the website but I haven't heard about them or seen them. There is a website of placement cell which is operated by students. There are sports clubs and ground for them but due to covid, they can't participate.
