Remarks

placements comparable to iits. Was among to 10 engineering institutions according to nirf in 2015-16. Jadavpur University has consistently been among the top 15 engineering institutions in the country.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course : Decently structuredAcademic : Rigour is decent. Though more application oriented subjects can be included.Faculty: Faculty are good however there is an acute shortage of faculty members and the university must hire professors asap.

We had analytics and market research roles from firms like HSBC, ZS, Fractal, Genpact , Bridgei2i, GE digital, IPSOS, Hexagon Capability Centre, CGI etc. Apart from these we had tata steel, tata steel bsl, tata metalliks, Reliance industries limited, Vedanta group, Hero motocorp, Rashmi steel and several other companies form the core industries hiring here. Mass recruiters like TCS Infosys Capgemini and Wipro hire in big numbers too.

College Events

We have 3 major university level fests and more than 5 departmental fests and symposiums. Adding to it are seminars , alumni association reunions makes it amazing. Social life is fantastic in Jadavpur University. Plus it is located in a metro city hence people have access to ample places of entertainment.

Fees and Financial Aid

Plenty are available. However the fees is pretty less. It is 10000 rupees for 4 years. So people generally don't find it difficult to pay fees. However numerous scholarships are available for the needy.

Campus Life

Everything is there. Only drawback is that this is not a residential program so people don't get to live on campus. All other infrastructure is world-class from labs to libraries to sports facilities and connectivity, everything is amazing.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Review of Jadavpur University

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More
